Whenever a new update launches forGenshin Impact, one of the main sources of content is the various limited-time events you can participate in. These serve as one of the major sources for Primogems, and they also provide a new type of gameplay that you won’t see in the game otherwise.
Each update has one major event that provides a higher Primogem count, and for Version 4.7, this event was called Mutual Security Enhancing Simulation. You have to beat some scenarios to win rewards here including a brand-new four-star exclusive Bow.

How To Unlock Mutual Security Enhancing Simulation Event
If you’re a relatively new player in the game, you’ll have to go through quite a few hoops to unlock this event. While the game has made it much easier to access these events with time, you’ll stillhave to finish the third act of Prologue called “Song of the Dragon and Freedom”. Apart from that, you’re also required to reach Adventure Rank 20.
For the best experience, the game will ask you to becaught up until the main story of Fontaine, but this isn’t necessary.

Once you can access the event, you’ll realize that it doesn’t have a lot of dialogue unlike most of the major events. After talking to a few soldiers, you’re placed in a simulation area where you just have tobeat certain Assault and Defense scenarios to claim your rewards.
The only reason you’re recommended to finish the story until Fontaine is becauseyou can see various Fontainian enemies here.

Assault Scenario Guide
As the name suggests, this game mode is focused on attacking on the battlefield andcapturing all the Stronghold Mechanisms. It’s essentially tower defense where you can place certain units within the radius of the Strongholds under your possession. These units will slowly advance towards the enemy Strongholds.
If your units can beat the enemy units andcapture every Mechanism on the field, the victory is yours. You can find two types of Strongholds in this mode:

Stronghold Mechanism
This type of stronghold has to first be destroyed by your units, and it enters a short cooldown when that happens. After the cooldown, theStronghold comes under your possessionand you can deploy units in its area.
If the Stronghold Mechanism you capture is thelast one on the field under the enemy’s possession, the stage instantly ends and you’re declared victorious.
Stronghold Flag
Stronghold Flags are in a neutral state at the start of the battle, but they can be captured if theunits from a certain faction (you or the enemy) are present in its radiuswithout the presence of units from the other faction.
If you capture a flag, you can deploy units 25 percent faster andthese can also be deployed in the flag’s radius.
Moreover, combat units are divided into two types of effects each:AoE, Squad, Single-Target and Flying, Melee, Ranged. Each type is weaker than the one mentioned before in the order. This isn’t necessarily based on higher damage but more on how the units function. For example, AoE units are bound to be good against a group of smaller enemies.
Similarly,Melee units are bound to be weaker against flying enemiessince they can’t target them at all. You have to keep this in mind while deploying units in this mode since your choices can decide the outcome of the battle. you’re able to also get one of the three special skills that can be used once every 45 seconds to change the tides in battle:
Sweeping Whirlwind
Places a whirlwind at the designated area, which pulls the enemies in anddeals AoE Anemo DMG that can trigger Swirl.
Blazing Breakthrough
Deals Pyro DMG in a very small area andreduces the DEF of the opponentsthat get hit.
Momentous Wave
Deals Hydro DMG in an AoE andheals all the allied units in the same areafor the next 2.5 seconds.
You’ll get two charges for each skill at the start of the battle, and once used, thecharge will enter a 45-second cooldown.
Defense Scenario Guide
The defense scenario features the same division systems for units, butyou don’t get to pick the units you want here. The game assigns specific units to you and the main strategy here is to decide where to deploy them. In the Defense Scenario, you’ll be placed in a middle circle with three Monoliths in different directions facing a long path.
This time around, you can place your units at thestart of each phase but they’ll stay put at their position. When you try to place a unit, you’ll see a circle surrounding them, which designates their aggression radius. If an enemy enters this radius, they will instantly target them.
Once every enemy within a unit’s radius is defeated, theywill return to their original position.
Of course, you can also deploy Stronghold Mechanisms in this game mode, whichwon’t move from their position but have a larger aggression radius.
When the preparation phase ends, enemies will start entering the battlefield from either the left flank, center, or the right flank. You’ll betold where the enemies are going to arrive from in the preparation phasealong with the type of enemies. You have to use this knowledge to place units that can counter these enemies in the correct positions.
Ideally, you’d want to place the units with a bigger radius in themiddle of two monoliths so that they can defend them both. You can also use the same Leadership Skills in this game mode. The main goal is to finish the run with more than 75 percent health left on all your monoliths cumulatively.
In this mode, the game already gives you one Pyro Mechanism in the middle for free.
If all your units get defeated, thiscan help you defend your monoliths a little bit.
Whenever an allied unit is defeated, yellow-colored Support Beacons will be dropped on the ground. You can pick these up to get another unit at random, which caninstantly be deployed even if you’re in the middle of battle.
Mutual Security Enhancing Simulation Event Rewards
While this might be one of the more fun and interactive events in Genshin Impact, it’s stillnot good enough if it doesn’t provide you with a bunch of rewards. The main reward for this event is a limited event-exclusive four-star Bow called Cloudforged, which you can get to Refinement Five for free if you finish the event.
This Bow increases the equipping character’sElemental Mastery by 80 every time their Energy is reduced, stacking up to two times. It’s essentially the Bow tailor-made for the newfour-star unit released during the same update, Sethos.
This is the best Bow you can use on the characterunless you have certain five-star weapons.
Apart from that, every stage of the Assault or Defense scenario you beatgives you another 50 Primogems, even if you don’t get all the stars. As you beat various stages, you’ll get Analysis Progress, which can give you another 60 Primogems for every milestone. Apart from all that, you can also get various EXP materials, Mora, and Talent Books.
