Hades 2has a lot of bosses in store for Melinoe to vanquish. The bosses in the underworld are harder than the ones you encounter on the surface. Each boss requires an understanding of attack patterns and a certain strategy to beat it easily.

Charybdis is one of the bosses you will find on the surface. After passing waves on enemies on the boat, you will finally come to a stop with a hole in the ship and Charybdis in it. Even though the boss is huge, it uses its smaller tentacles to assault Melinoe and not his entire body.

Charybdis attacking Melinoe in Hades 2

Hades 2 is in Early Access. As the game develops further, the content in it is subject to change. We will update this article as required when the game comes out of the Early Access stage.

Description

AoE Tentacle Smash

Charybdis spawns five tentacles as soon as the boss fight starts. Each tentacle does an AoE smash attack that sends out a three-directional wave to damage Melinoe. There is a safe zone behind each tentacle.

Red Orb Projectiles

Whenever Charybdis’s health is significantly lowered, it will call back the tentacles and fire a lot of red orb projectiles. Each of the bigger projectiles further branch out into smaller ones and chase you down for some time.

Tentacles Popping

Charybdis sends back all five tentacles to assault Melinoe after the red orb attacks. A small circle is visible on the ground indicating a tentacle will pop out at the spot.

Ranged Arrows

Each tentacle fires one ranged arrow at the point where Melinoe stands.

Tentacle Whirlwind

When the boss is down to 20 to 30 percent health, the tentacles will perform a whirlwind attack if Melinoe gets too close to them.

Charybdis Location

You willencounter the Charybdis boss in the Rift of Thessaly biomelocated at the surface. Toget to the surface, you cannot just take a regular path. For this, you have toconcoct the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation thatbreaks the surface ward.

However, you must firstcollecta Cinder, Shadow, andthree Molycrafting materialsfor the incantation. Once theseal is broken, you can go up from the training roominstead of going down into the Underworld.

How To Beat Charybdis

Charybdis is one of the easiest bossesin the game once you know its attack patterns. When you enter the boss room, it willcall five tentacles from the ground to deal with AoE smash attacks. The smashsends a wave that is fired from three sides of a tentacle, and only its back is the safe spot.

So, if you happen tobe on a tentacle’s back, you will not get hit by the wave. You can also dodge the waves easily, but you must act swiftly since the platform is narrow.

Melinoe running away from explosions in Hades 2

Dealing damage to each tentacle will deplete Charybdis’s health, and all tentacles start attacking you simultaneously. However, since there is a distance between each tentacle, thebest strategy would be to pick any one, possibly the corner ones, and start hitting them without worrying about getting hit by the others.

Once theboss’s health drops to 70 or 75 percent, it willcall back all tentacles and spew out explosive red orbs. These orbs chase Melinoe andfurther explode into mini-cluster bombs.

Melinoe dodging atttacks of Charybdis in Hades 2

You must run from one corner of the boss fight to another to dodge them successfully.

If you have Soot Sprint Boon, Melinoe’s sprinting will destroy most of the ranged attacks and, in return, inflict a scorchstatus effect on the boss.

After going through the explosive red orb phase, watch out for the tentacles popping out from the floor.Circles will appear for a brief moment, and you need to dodge away. Otherwise, the tentacles will hit and damage Melinoe.

The tentacles will nowbring another attack pattern into the mix: ranged arrows. Each tentacle willfire a pink-colored arrow in a linear directionwhere Melinoe stands. You must be swift in dodging or else you can be caught by the arrows. For this, stand in either corner, and you cansee the arrows from afar. It makes dodging much easier.

WhenCharybdis is left with 20 to 30 percent health, thetentacles will also make a 360-degree whirlwind attack. A brief animation of a tentacle gives away that it is about to do this attack. Therefore, you muststay away from the tentacles when the boss’s health is very low.

Receiving Boons is random, but if youfind these specific ones, grab them for a big advantage against the Charybdisboss:

We have already mentioned above howuseful Soot Sprint is during the explosive red orbattack phase.Ice Strike is equally usefulas it applies afreeze status effect and even does more damageper hit.

However, theTotal Eclipse Hex is by far the best Boonhere as itdeals a massive 1000 damage four secondsafter you cast the Hex. The tentacles are not mobile and this makes them a very easy target for Total Eclipse.
