Summary
If there is one superhero from Marvel’s pantheon of heroes that has withstood the test of time, it’s the wall-climbing web-head,Spider-Man. Since his creation, Spider-Man has been keeping New York City, the earth, and all of the universe safe from all sorts of villains over the years.
Nailing down the exact number of villains Spider-Man has faced can be difficult since calling New York City his home means he has a lot of cross-over with other heroes. If keeping track of Spider-Man’s rogue gallery seems daunting, we took some time to hunt down his villains and did our best to get them all in line.

Spider-Man Has 123 Villains (Kinda)
And They All Aren’t Very Happy With Him
Adding up all the different villains and baddies Spider-Man has fought over the years is no small task, complicated by the many different comics that he has been featured in. When it comes to the main villains that Spider-Man has gone up against, the number is around 123 villains.
Here’s the thing about Spider-Man:he’s fought a lot of villains over the years, and not all of them are exclusively his own or are even from his universe.

It doesn’t help that, at any given time, multiple Spider-Variants are swinging around New York City, saving people and stopping villains.
And we’re not even counting other versions of Spider-Man, likeSpider-Man 2077 or Spider-Man Noir. If we just focus on Peter Parker, and just on the main universe 616 version of Peter Parker, and also none of his clones, then the total numberadds up to more than 100 villains.

That number balloons to huge numbers when you consider the fact thatSpider-Man has fought with all sorts of other heroes over the years.
For every one symboite Spider-Man has gone up against in his own comics, he has fought dozens of evil mutants, Skrulls, mythological beings, supernatural entities, cosmic beings, and more.
If we were to add up everyone Spider-Man has fought against over the years, that number jumps to more than ten times the number of villains,a staggering 1,125 villains and counting.
That’s alsoleaving out all the nameless random street-level bank robbers, hostage takers, and petty criminalsthat your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man has thwarted while keeping the city streets safe.
Mephisto may be a Doctor Strange villain normally, but if he’s bringing demons to New York City for anything other than a play on Broadway, then Spider-Man will go toe to toe with them.
While this all makes Spider-Man a great hero, it also makes it a bit confusing when it comes to narrowing down how many enemies he has. That said,Spider-Man has some extremely prolific and immediately identifiable arch nemesesthat just about every comic book fan will recognize.
Spider-Man’s Biggest Foes
The Hits Keep Coming
Most superheroes have one, maybe two huge evil masterminds to contend with.Iron Man has the Mandarin, Thor has Loki, and Black Widow has Yelena Belova.
Spider-Man has more than all of them combined, so many that his biggest foes even teamed up into a villain supergroup called the Sinister Six.
Stan Lee & Steve Ditko
#2 (May 1963)
Among these villains,Doctor Octopus, Venom(specifically Eddie Brock, despite changing his ways in recent years), and theGreen Goblin(Norman Osborn’s iteration of the high-tech villain) can be considered Spider-Man’s arch nemeses.
