When you’re not dying endlessly againstElden Ring’s waves of hostile warriors, traps, and monsters each more horrifying than the last, you’re talking to the people who inhabit the sparsely populated world of the Lands Between. Many of these characters are beaten and downtrodden, broken by the terrible tragedy that befell the land.
That doesn’t mean you’re alone, as the various NPCs can bestow items, quests, and more on you, oftentimes filling you in on the events that drove the lands to ruin or helping you on your quest to become the Elden Lord. We traveled to the ends of the world to hunt down every NPC in Elden Ring, compiling them together for any weary adventurer to find.
There Are Almost 100 NPCs In Elden Ring
Most Of Them Are Willing To Help
Even if you’ve explored every inch of the Lands Between, you might find yourself wondering if there are more characters in the game. With armies of enemy knights,terrible monsters, and all sorts of imposing bosses to fight, finding a friendly face, or at least one that won’t immediately try to kill you, is a rare find in the Lands Between.
As you wander through the different locations of Elden Ringyou’ll meet 92 NPCs in the world. That’s not including thevarious bosses of Elden Ring, of which there are many.
Generally speaking, the NPCs are relatively static, typically hanging out in one location for most of the game, but there areplenty that travel throughout the Lands Betweenas different events are triggered in the game.
Sometimes their personal quests will send them to various locations, such as Iron Fist Alexander, who will travel to multiple locales as you progress through his questline.

Spirit NPCs Are A Little Different
Ghostly And Confusing
Spirits rarely do much other than moan about how they failed in some way ortalk about the fall of the Lands Between, making them somewhat unique as far as Elden Ring’s NPCs go.
They’re generally there to provide insight into the world, but aren’t interactable in any real way. Many can be found at different locations too, so the location can be a bit off if they have moved.

If you were to count up all the different bosses in the game, which boasts more than 165,that would bring your final total up to 257NPCs, but there’s plenty of debate about whether or not you should consider them NPCs.
Just like how all therandom enemies across the worldare technically NPCs but are not really considered characters. Either way, there are plenty of characters in Elden Ring to keep you busy for a long, long time.
