You are thrust into a post-apocalyptic world filled with Stardust pollution and aberrations in the survival-horror MMORPG,Once Human. As a new resident of the region, you will need to scour the world for valuable resources and loot in order to build yourself a territory and to become better equipped for survival.
Various creatures will be making it challenging for you to stay safe, but the contaminated environment will have you struggling to survive. You will need access to various resources, such as water, to stay healthy. That being said, Stardust has contaminated much of the natural world. You will need to take extra steps to ensure that your water is safe for consumption.
How To Get Boiled Water
The different bodies of water in Once Human may look clear and brimming with aquatic life, butswimming in it is not a good idea. Stardust pollution has contaminated them, and this makes it a bad idea to quench your thirst with a sip of these waters.
Thankfully, there are ways tocleanse the pollution of a dirty cup of water. One way to get drinkable water is toscoop out Dirty Water from a stream and then boil it.
You will be able to takeDirty Water from bodies of fresh water. Taking water from the sea won’t work, becauseboiling it will turn it into salt.
Find a body of water, such as a stream or a pond, thengo to a shallow areaof the water for you to stand in. You should get a prompt that says"Collect Dirty Water"if you’re standing in the correct spot.
Collect as much water as you need, thenhead back to your territory. You will need a Stove in order to boil your water. To make a Stove, you’ll need tounlock the schematic for it in the Memetics menu.
The schematics for the Stove can be acquired by unlocking theCooking 101 Memetic under the Logistics tab. You’ll needCiphers and Energy Linksto unlock this.
Gain levels, complete season challenges, andcatch new Deviationsto get more Ciphers.Complete tasks, commissions, quests,andclear dungeonsin order to obtain more Energy Links.
Once you have your Stove, access it to see all the recipes available to you.Select the recipe for Boiled Water. You’ll find that it coststhree bottles of Dirty Waterto create, and each cup will taketwo seconds to make.
Craft your Boiled Water, thenretrieve it from your crafting queue.
Boiled water will give you+20 points in Hydration, making it a quick and easy way to stock your bag with something to quench your thirst any time.
Just take note that Dirty Water still has weight, sodon’t take too many with you.
How To Collect Rain Water
There are also ways for you to set up structures that willcollect water for you over time.
One of these is using theRainwater Collection System. This is a structure built with canvas andMetal Framein such a way that it canhold water whenever it rains.
In order to get the schematic for this structure, you’ll first need tounlock its Memetic. In the Memetics menu, you’ll find the correct Memetic under theLogistics tab.
The branch you’ll need to unlock the Rainwater Collection System is theWater Gathering Skill. You’ll first need tounlock Cooking 101to get access to this branch, so make sure you have enough Ciphers and Energy Links.
Unlocking the Water Gathering Skill will give you access to both theformulas of the Rainwater Collection Systemand theWater Bucket. Once you have the schematics, you canbuild these on your territory.
You’ll find the structures for water collection in theFunctional tab under the Facilities menuon your building screen.

The Rainwater Collection System will collect Dirty Waterwhenever it rains, and you’ll be able to take it to your Stove in order toboil it and make it drinkable.
you may alsoconnect this to aWater Bucketwith a pipe. This will allow the Dirty Water to flow into the Water Bucket, and you’ll havemore storage space for your multiple bottles of Dirty Water.
Make sure totake into consideration the physicsof your water collection system. TheRainwater Collection Systemneeds to be above the Water Bucketfor water to flow down the pipe.
You can see the flow of the water byhitting “L” on your keyboard. This will display the pipe and wire networks in your territory, andthe flow of water will also be seen.
How To Get A Water Pump
Another method for water collection is toinstall aWater Pump. This requiresten watts of electricityin order to run, so make sure tohave an energy sourceconnected to it.
A Water Pump is a better structure compared to the Rainwater Collection System, becauseit draws water from the ground. This makes it more effective as a source of constant water.
A Water Pump can also be used incollecting crude oilwhen placed on oil fields. This can also be used topull up saltwhen placed on a beach.

The Water Pump will need to beplaced on the ground, not on any foundation. Once you get itconnected to a source of electricity, it will start running.
There is another Water Pump structure, which ismuch smaller than the previous one. This costsone wattto power up, and it acts as a pump that willallow water to be moved upwards.

Since a large Water Pump will need to be on the ground, you canuse the smaller pump to pull the water above. Then,connect a pipethat will lead the water into a Water Bucket.
Take note that the water that the Water Pump will be pulling from the ground will still beDirty Water. Make sure toboil it on a Stovebefore you consume it.
