Summary

Legogames are fun for fans of all ages. Whether you love films like The Incredibles or old classics likeJurassic Park, Lego has a way of adding that silly charm to a franchise. Of course, Lego still needs to keep things child-friendly, and as a result, some of its titles need to tone down the death of characters in the story.

In some cases, the adaptations leave dead characters alive. This has led to some very interesting censors that have turned rather serious moments into goofy exits. Here are ten funny ways Lego has gotten around showing death on screen.

Lego Donald Generro brushing Trex Teeth in Lego Jurassic World

10Lego Jurassic World - Donald Gennaro

Don’t Forget To Brush

One of the most iconic deaths in Jurassic Park is the moment Donald Gennaro is eaten by the T. rex. He attempts to hide in the porta potty only for the T. rex to discover him inside and devour him. This jaw-dropping death occurs when everything goes off the rails and the park begins to fall apart.

So how does this death occur in Lego Jurassic World? Donald Genarro is eaten of course, but does the T. rex swallow? Instead, Gennaro manages to survive the dinosaur encounter with a new job of keeping the Trex’s Teeth Clean.

Dennis Nedry Puts a chicken leg inside the Dilophosaurs mouth from Lego Jurassic World

Spare A Chicken Leg?

Another iconic death from Jurassic Park is Dennis Nedry and the Dilophosaurs. After stealing the embryos from the lab, Nedry makes his way to the dock for the trade-off. In the film, Nedry’s fate is to get attacked by a sneaky Dilophosaurs who gets inside his car while he is distracted.

In the game, however, Nedry manages to get away just in time with the help of a chicken leg. Using it to prop the dinosaur’s mouth open, he runs away. But to where?

Dead Jurassic Park Characters Survive in Lego Jurassic World.

8Lego Jurassic World - Robert Muldoon

If You Don’t See A Body

Everybody knows the iconic line “clever girl” often associated with velociraptors. In the film, these are Muldoon’s last words before he goes from hunter to prey. In Lego Jurassic World, Muldoon is attacked, but you never see him get eaten. Instead, it cuts away to a velociraptor eating a hot dog.

So, how did Lego censor the death? Besides cutting away at the last possible moment, characters that ‘died’ in Jurassic Park make a surprise cameo in one of the Jurassic World levels. They simply spent all those years between movies hiding on the island.

Mr Incredible Discovers Gazerbeam Alive in Lego The Incredibles

7Lego The Incredibles - Gazerbeam

Back In Action

In the Incredibles, Gazerbeam is one of the many supers eliminated by Syndrome’s Omnidroid. His bones are later found when Mr. Incredible hides from Syndrome during their first fight. While Lego often shies away from showing an on-screen death, this is one of the few times they retcon a death entirely.

Instead, Gazerbeam is discovered to still be alive inside the cavewith a bit of amnesia. He then goes on to become the second playable character throughout the next few missions. After all, Lego games are meant to be played in co-op.

Syndrome Alive At The End of Lego The Incredibles.

6Lego The Incredibles - Syndrome

If there’s one thing you should know about superhero costume design, it’s the no cape rule. Capes are a great way to get yourself killed, and it’s exactly what happens to Syndrome at the end of The Incredibles.

So how does Lego handle Syndrome getting sucked into a jet engine? It doesn’t. Instead, the Incredibles arrive at their home like in the film only to discover that Jack-Jack has given Syndrome a run for his money. Being too much to handle, Syndrome walks away stating that babysitters need to get paid more before declaring his intention of going into hiding.

Jabba The Hut Stuck In A Window

5Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga - Jabba The Hutt

Choke On This

Jabba the Hutt’s fate was to be choked out by Leia at the start of Return of the Jedi. This is a pretty gruesome death byStar Warsstandards. However,Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Sagaswitches things up a bit. Jabba is tossed around his ship during the fight only to end up plastered against a window.

The ship then explodes in the distance as the heroes escape. Interestingly enough, Jabba the Hutt’s death was not censored in the original Lego Star Wars 2 The Original Trilogy.

The Remains of an Unnamed Alderaan

4Lego Star Wars - Alderaan

Alderaan? What Alderaan?

The destruction of Alderaan is an iconic moment where viewers seethe full power of the Death Star. It is also a major plot point as to why the rebels need to hurry up and destroy it. However, in the Skywalker Saga, Alderaan is nowhere to be found as the destruction is skipped over.

Like Jabba the Hutt’s death, Alderaan’s destruction was featured in the original Lego Star Wars Game only to be cut later. In Lego Canon, Aldreraan is still somewhere out there as the blown-up chunks of the planet technically go unnamed.

Lego Zam Wessel Opening One Eye During Death Scene

3Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga - Zam Wessel

She Blinked

Zam Wessel is a bounty hunter who was sent by Boba Fett to kill Padme. Wessel is iconic for her robot that sends space bugs to finish the job, only to fail and get hunted down by Anakin and Obi-Wan. Before she can give any information, she is struck down with poisonous darts.

While mildly graphic, Lego adds a comedic tone to the death, making it more cartoony than the film. In a blink-and-you-’ll-miss-it moment, Wessel opens one of her eyes to peek at the jedi while supposedly being dead. Looks like she’s just pretending.

Lego Soldier Dancing in Lego Indiana Jones

2Lego Indiana Jones - Opening The Ark Finale

Dance Fever

The Climax of Raiders of the Lost Ark is one of the more gruesome series of deaths in the entire series. There are melting faces and exploding heads everywhere. Lego Indiana Jones got two different renditions of the Ark opening scene. The first in Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures skips the blood and gore with simple minigures exploding.

In the second game, Lego Indiana Jones: The Adventure Continues, a disco ball emerges from the legendary Ark causing many of the villains to start a dance number. The tune is so catchy it soon becomes deadly as the dancers are then electrocuted.

Lego Quicksilver Buried in Ice Cream Cones

1Lego Avengers - Quicksilver

Bullets Into Ice Cream

In Avengers Age of Ultron, Quicksilver throws himself in the path of danger as a form of self-sacrifice.The Marvel filmshows him riddled with bullet holes before succumbing to his injuries. This is a pretty violent death by the MCU standards, but Lego decides to sidestep this in the silliest way possible.

Instead of taking the bullets himself, Quicksilver defends Hawkeye by blocking the bullets with an ice cream truck. It then shows him covered in ice cream cones as he collapses, defeated, but still clearly breathing.
