Summary

It’s been a big week forHelldivers 2fans, as a big black hole is now sitting where the planet Meridia used to be. However, some believe that it may not be a black hole at all, and that we may have some very irritated Illuminate banging on the door soon.

If you’ve been playing Helldivers 2 over the past few days, you should already know thatthe mission to completely destroy Meridiawent ahead as planned, despite some hitches. Thanks to the weaponized Dark Fluid, the Terminid supercolony on the planet was annihilated, taking with it the planet itself and leaving behind a massive purple void in space that Super Earth is calling a black hole.

Unfortunately, a lot of players have beenhaving rather undemocratic thoughts, and think that maybe this large purple hole in space may behiding more than what Super Earth is letting on. In fact, the prevailing theory is that this isn’t a black hole at all, but it’s instead a wormhole that has opened up andsome very angry Illuminateare going to start spilling out of it any day now.

Helldivers 2 Players Think They’ve Opened A Wormhole

If players are correct and the big purple hole we opened up in space is a wormhole, it means that Meridia may not have actually been destroyed like we thought, but teleported across the galaxy instead. I’m sure that whatever is on the other site of the wormhole - possibly the previously thought to be extinct Illuminate - isn’t too happy about having a Terminid supercolony dumped on their doorstep, and retaliation would be more than justified if that was the case.

We know the Illuminate is on the way, thanks tovarious code and model datamines from fansthat have gone searching around in Helldivers 2 files, and the mysterious ships and blue beams that players spotted a while ago even suggested thatthe Illuminate were lying in waitfor Super Earth to do something extremely stupid. If they were waiting for an opening, they wouldn’t get a much better one than this, and I suspect we’re going to want to keep well away from that “black hole” in the near future.
