Summary

Helldivers, you did it. By completing the most recent Major Order inHelldivers 2, players have now unlocked the Emancipator Exosuit. It has been immediately made available to players as a strategem.

Check it out:

Ahead of the holiday weekend, the official Helldivers 2 Twitter accountissued an official Major Order to its player base. That order required players to liberate Varylia 5 from the Automatons.

Just a few days later, the player base was successful, and their reward is a new mech suit that appears to pack quite the punch. Officially titled the dual-Autocannon EXO-49 Emancipator Exosuit, it is as big and powerful as its namesake applies. The dual cannons are on each side of the exosuit, and the deployment video showcases a unique yellow colorway.

It wasn’t necessarily a given that players would earn the reward. For one, it’s a holiday weekend for a large part of the player base. Secondly, other Major Orders have been unsuccessful in the past, so there was a chance that this too would end in failure. In the end, however, liberation has been achieved.

Helldivers 2 Players Are Split On The Exosuit’s Usefulness

At the moment, though, not every Helldivers 2 player is convinced that the mech suit is a win. While it’s only been a handful of hours since its deployment, there are already some serious detractors in the community. That said, there are others singing its praises.

Some segments of players have taken advantage of its free cost and unlimited uses to make short work of enemies. One user wrote on the official Helldivers subreddit, “I’ve been bringing multiple mechs every mission and chaining them back to back, calling in my limited use mechs when the free mech is on cooldown.”

Other users have pointed out its lower durability, especially its impact when playing at higher levels. Asone user shared, “I’ve tried the mech. I’d rather any strategem that isn’t 10 minutes, 2 charges. Coming from an only 9’s player.”

And finally, other users have taken a middle of the road approach, appreciating the fun, but also recognizing the shortcomings. “It’s fun but this mech is weak,“u/elitericky wrote. “No reason why a turret auto cannon is better at killing bile titans than a AC Mech.”

Like any new thing, there’s always going to be detractors and those seeking to complain. This particular thread in the sub sums things up perfectly. Take a look:

Given the rocky past few weeks that have engulfed Helldivers 2,including the PSN fiasco, thelack of in-game PSAsand theapparent cancelation of the “Review Bomb” cape, perhaps a little bit of fun is all the community needs. After all, that’s whatgaming is all about at the end of the day.
