Summary

Helldivers 2’s lead developer, Johan Pilestedt, is asking fans what newEagle Stratagemsthey’d like to see in the game.

Unsurprisingly, the playerbase has a bunch of different suggestions. Pilestedt hints that some of them could even wind up in the game, so who knows? We might get a decent idea of what to expect from a future update in this Twitter thread.

Helldivers 2 Players Pitch New Stratagems

Fans have a bunch of ideas. My personal favourite comes from Twitter user @GoldenPenHD, who pitches a bomb that a Helldiver rides down on as it crashes into the planet. Hey, it could be an alternative to calling down reinforcements? Admittedly, you’d need to call down more reinforcements immediately afterwards, because I doubt that player is surviving the explosion, but it would be funny.

On the other hand, @Nasdorachi suggests an extremely powerful carpet bomb that has a huge cooldown, or even something that drops mechs into the battlefield. Pilestedt indicated that he’s interested in these ideas in a reply, so they might be under consideration.

The lead dev also adds that this thread is “more fun than a conference room brainstorming”, so if you have any ideas, now’s a good time to share them - you might be able to catch his attention.;

This is one of Pilestedt’s first acts since he revealed that he was stepping down as CEO from Helldivers 2 developer, Arrowhead. Instead, he is now the chief creative officer, a move that puts him closer to the game’s ongoing development. So, it’s unsurprising to see that he’s taking time to see what the fans want, now that he is presumably in a better position to act on their advice.

Upon announcing his job change, Pilestedt also suggested that recent unpopular balance changeswere a result of the devs not playing Helldivers 2 enough. So, it makes sense that he’s asking those whodoplay the game regularly what they want to see, at least until he can get more devs playing it themselves.

That said, a community manager has alsosuggested that updates may slow down. Going for quality over quantity certainly seems to be the aim here, especially since we know thatthe devs need “more time” on the next balance patchbefore it’s ready to drop, hoping to avoid the mistakes of the last one.
