Summary

We live in the age of information, and video games are no exception. Betweenaudio logs, diaries, documents, in-universe lore and the game’s story itself, things can sometimes get a tad bit overwhelming. We’re looking at you,Control.

But what about the inverse? Too little information. It sounds hard to believe, but that is apparently the case inHelldivers 2, and fans are calling for a change.

Players of the breakout live-service shooter are calling on developer Arrowhead Games Studio to add in-game tutorials and info dumps related to the game’s mechanics. Because, right now, things are a bit complicated when it comes to information.

Players Are Tired Of Learning Information On Discord

For those just catching up, if a planet with an SEAF base is under Super Earth’s control, it’ll grant a percentage bonus towards liberating all planets. In this instance, Vernen Wells had a 5 percent bonus. Keyword: had.

The planet has since been overrun by Automatons and the training base has been destroyed. That means the bonus is now gone. But many didn’t know that it’s actually gone for goodunless they happened to be in the official Helldivers 2 Discord.

That’s because that information was relayed to the communityvia its community managerand not via any sort of in-game PSA. As a result, fans are calling on the developer to start including that information in-game, so players know which planets to focus on.

The top commentreads: “Well that is a bummer, folks probably would have fought harder to keep it if they knew that was the case. I’m looking forward to when they add more of the galactic war information in game rather than relying on third party companion apps or discord.”

In a separate thread, another user also took issue with the use of Discord over actual in-game PSAs. Theywrote, “This one is important and yet another thing they need to tell us in game and not on discord.”

The solution? In-game PSAs and tutorials, according to many users. As one user shared, “Imagine if there would be a list in the corner of the screen with ‘keep planets xyz for 5%’ or something.” Other users have created similar ways.

Helldivers 2became a breakout hit, in part, because ofits developer/player relationship, which included communication. So it stands to reason that Arrowhead will listen to this feedback and a PSA or similar tutorial will eventually make its way to the game. But if not, then it’ll be another issue for a gamethat has taken a lump of them as of late.
