Amidthe Second Galactic War, we know things are ramping up behind the scenes inHelldivers 2.
One leaker has peeked behind the curtain a little early and uncovered several Automaton tanks, new enemy types that will soon roll onto the battlefield and turn us into Super Earth paste.
We have standard-looking tanks with mounted miniguns, but then we have what looks like a rocket devastator on wheels. As one fan puts it, “Sweet liberty, NO!!!”
These were uncovered by ForerunnerLore, who also shared a look at the turrets two months ago (albeit untextured), revealing that “the destroyed components attached to the model show remarkable similarity with the ‘vents’ used byother Automaton units”.
Helldivers 2 Fans Are Terrified Of The Leaked Automaton Tanks
Automatons are already the more difficult of the two factions in the game right now, which is why most players stay in Terminid territory. They’re resilient to a lot of our stratagems, use advanced and highly deadly weaponry, and when swarming you in a group, tend to overwhelm even the best of squads in no time.
Now, imagine them with tanks. It’s easy to see why the community is so frightened. “Oh for freedom, what the absolute fu– is this?” one fan commented. “I didn’t need a rocket devastator but in a tank”.
Many more drew comparisons to the real-life TOS-1 Solntsepek (or Blazing Sun), a Russian tank armed with thermobaric rocket launchers.
“Pain pain pain pain pain,” another simply wrote. “I love it.” Not everyone is so enthusiastic. As a third fan wrote, “Thanks… I hate it”.
“Sweet liberty,” wrote one commenter. “It’s all fun and games until the clankers start deleting grid squares with MLRS.”
We don’t know when these tanks will arrive, but we at least know that they exist, so we have some time to mentally prepare.
