As many of you are no-doubt experiencing for yourself now that Hades 2 is out in Early Access, Melinoe’s adventures continue that trend, with lots of smaller details and interactions for players to find for themselves. As great as it is being able to bathe with your companionsandturn Frinos into a warrior, the best is one that can only be found in the game’s final boss battle.

Minor spoilers for an easter egg within Hades 2’s final boss battle below.

Chronos Is The One Controlling Time, Not You

Once you’ve finally figured out how to get past Cerberus without losing all of your Death Defiances, you’ll find yourself in the final area of Hades 2’s underworld run - Tartarus. This area will no doubt be familiar to anyone who played the first Hades, but it’s very different now that it’s been taken over by Chronos, the Titan of Time.

Melinoe’s Underworld run always ends with a climatic battle against Chronos, who is one of the game’s most difficult bosses as of the time of writing. His battle is a tough one that’s sure to make your hands cramp at one point or another, so it’s likely you’re going to want to pause at some point to regain your focus.

Well, good luck with that one.As you can see in the video above from YouTuber Faz Faz, pausing during the final boss battle of Hades 2’s Underworld run will cause Chronos, the Titan of Time, to laugh in your face and instantly unpause the game, something he’ll keep doing no matter how many times you try.

The little monologue that Chronos has when he unpauses your game at least counts as a little break, right?

What If You Really Need To Pause?

Although it’s a very fun little joke for Hades 2 and a great easter egg, Faz Faz’s video shows that there is actually a way to stop Chronos from pausing your game. If you unlock the “Power To Pause And Reflect” incantation after fighting Chronos, you’ll be able to stop him from unpausing your game, which leads to some funny interactions.

One such interaction even has Chronos acknowledging that the game is probably being paused to give the player a bathroom break. Although that probably doesn’t make up for how many runs are going to be ruined by Chronos' little joke in the first place, it’s definitely one of the best easter eggs in recent memory.
