World of Warcrafthas brought the world of Pandaria back, and now better than ever. During the limited Mists of Pandaria Remix event, players are able to create Timerunning characters, allowing them to replay the expansion but with numerous new and upgraded features.
Of these features are being able to socket your armor with unique gems that you will find on your journey. Equipping them can boost your stats, give you new spells, and even give you other classes' abilities. With the overwhelming number you are sure to find, this guide will teach you how to use find, use, and upgrade them.

Where To Find Gems
Gems of all types can drop fromany enemy, including dungeon and raid bosses, and fromCaches of Infinite Treasure. Additionally, an NPC namedLidamorrutuwill sell gems to you in exchange for Bronze. She can be found at any of theInfinite Bazaarsor Infinite Dragon encampments.
These will range from200-500 Bronze each, with Prismatic Gems being the lowest and Meta Gems being the highest.

You will only receive Cogwheel, Tinker, and Meta gems thatyou do not already have, so hold onto your unwanted gems so that you can get the most variety.
How To Socket And Remove Gems
To socket a gem onto a piece of armor, simply go into your profile andshift + right clickone of your armor pieces. A menu will then open up showing you the available slots.
Not all types of gems can go into all types of armor;this will be covered later.

Once you’ve gotten the gem you like,drag it into a spare slotand press’Apply'.
To unsocket a gem, use the’Extract Gem’ability given to you at the beginning of the event and thenclick on the chosen armor piece. This will remove one of the slots and put the gem back in your inventory. Another way is to simplydrag the gem outwhen the menu is open.
Gem Types And Where To Use Them
There are four different types of gems:Meta,Tinker,Prismatic, andCogwheel Gems. Each type applies different abilities or boosts to your character, and canonly fit on certain types of armor.
Below is a comprehensive guide on which gems do what, and where they can be used.
Meta Gems
Meta Gemsprovide apowerful and unique abilityto your character. These can only be socketed on yourhelmet, which will only have one slot available. Additionally, the abilitywill scaleto the item it is applied to.
Tinker Gems
Tinker Gemsalsogive special abilities, ranging from various shields to meteors that stun your enemy. You can have a total of12slots; three each from theshoulders,wrist,gloves, andbelt.
Prismatic Gems
Prismatic Gemsare one of the more common gems, and are crucial inincreasing your base stats. There are eight different types of gems, each corresponding to different stats. Below is a table showing what stat each type gives.
Pearl
Armor
You will most likely find them in theircommon, or’chipped’form, giving you a singular boost to the specific stat. Gems canbe upgradedto ‘flawed’, then ‘masterful’, and finally ‘perfect’ forms, giving youincreased buffseach time.
Toupgradea gem, you will needthree of the same type. Then, go into your inventory and right-click tocombine theminto a more powerful version. For instance, you will need three Chipped Deadly Sapphire to make one Flawed Deadly Sapphire, and so on.
The most powerful version of each gem not only boosts the stat four times, but also adds a boost in Stamina.
Cogwheel Gems
Finally,Cogwheel Gemscontainother classes' abilities, and are put in a singular socket on yourboots.
These abilities can range from the warrior’s Heroic Leap, to the hunter’s Trailblazer, providing a fun twist on already-played classes.
