Summary
Fortniteplayers really aren’t happy about how long it takes to get XP and level up in Chapter 5, Season 3, especially with theFalloutPower Armour right in the middle of the Battle Pass.
After the somewhat disappointing Myths and Mortals Season, Fortnite has finally moved onto something new with Chapter 5, Season 3, which is also known as Wrecked. This post-apocalyptic, car-focused and nitro-fuelled Seasonhasbeen out for a few days nowand, aside from some players being annoyed about how car-centric the gameplay is, seems to be a hit so far.
That being said,it wouldn’t be the start of a new Fortnite Season without a few teething issues, and there have been a few big ones that have cropped up already. The biggest of these is one that anyone who has played Wrecked over the past few days will surely understand - the obvious XP nerf that has made levelling up a lot slower.
Fortnite Chapter 5, Season 3’s XP Gains Have Been Nerfed
Considering how much XP is chucked at you in the final weeks of a Fortnite event, it’s natural to feel like it’s slower when you first start up a Season and don’t have so many bonuses coming in. That’s likely what a few players assumed was the case in Wrecked, but Redditor KvasirTheOld has pointed out that the amount of XP has actually been decreased in Chapter 5, Season 3.
Over on the Fortnite Battle Royale subreddit, KvasirTheOld pointed out that, although the XP for weekly quests has been increased, the amount earned for daily bonuses and match quests has dropped significantly. You can now earn a total of 441,000 XP in a week, which is 49,000 less than the 490k that was previously possible.
I’ve not played too much of the Wrecked Season so far, but I was surprised to have only levelled up five times after around four hours of playing. That certainly feels slower than it usually does.
This means that, even if you complete all of the daily and weekly missions, you’re still going to have a harder time getting to Level 100. Although this is only the case if youdoeverything in a week, it’s going to be a big hit for hardcore Fortnite players and make earning the Battle Pass skins (including the Fallout Power Armour) a tougher time.
One fan even pointed out that the XP earned from doing Creator Islands has been decreased, meaning that it’s not just Battle Royale that has been affected. XP will likely be easier to earn as the season goes on and Epic adds some bonuses but, for now, it’s certainly feeling like more of a grind than it did before.
