Summary

We’ve had the MCU, the DCEU and even the Dark Universe. Hell,we’re potentially getting the NCU, or the Nintendo Cinematic Universe. But have you prepared yourself for the JU… the Jason Universe? No, we’re not being facetious. This is a real thing.

As first reported by IGN, Horror, Inc. is maximizing the potential of it’s Friday the 13th franchise by launching the Jason Universe. This universe will span entertainment, games, immersive experiences and more things to be announced throughout 2024, and while it remains to be seen what exactly Jason will be featured in, it seems increasingly likely that one of those properties will be none other than Fortnite.

Could Jason Be Making His Way To The Fortnite World?

As pointed out on social media by Wario64, one of the accounts that the Jason Universe is following isFortnite’sofficial handle. Ten years ago, we’d probably ignore an innocuous follow, but we live in the day and age of hidden meanings and teases, so it’s fair to assume that at least one of these Jason Universe activations will happen in Fortnite. And it makes complete sense, too.

Fortnite has firmly established itself as the defacto “Metaverse.” It’sa place where someone playing as Gokucan team up with a player controlled Zendaya avatar to take down someone masquerading as Aang from The Last Airbender. It only makes sense that Jason and his signature hockey mask could be part of that world at some point.

But Fortnite goes beyond simply being a place where various IPs can interact, it has also been the center of multiple entertainment activations. There have been concerts held within the Fornite world, watch parties for Dragon Ball: Super and even a timed event that featured the debut of an exclusive clip from Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

That is to say that Jason’s potential inclusion in Epic’s live service shooter could go beyond a simple skin and back bling. Of course, none of this is confirmed and rumors are firmly rumors, but it seems likely, and given that Horror, Inc. wants to see Jason and Friday the 13th in an array of properties, it only makes sense to use Fortnite as a launching pad.

Jason Also Follows Call Of Duty

We’d be remiss if we also didn’t mention that the Jason Universe account also followsCall of Dutyon Twitter. COD is no stranger to collaboration skins either, with the likes of Attack on Titan and Dune having purchaseable cosmetics.

Given the immense popularity of the Warzone mode, it would equally make sense to see Jason featured. Perhaps there’s even a lane where a horror-themed Zombies map features the iconic character. Until anything becomes official, we’ll continue lamenting over what the Jason Universe could have been. That is, the Jason Todd Universe.
