Summary
Fortnite Festival finally implemented guitar controller supportin April, making it feel closer to iconic rhythm games likeRock BandandGuitar Herothan ever. But one fan has taken things a step further.
Epic Partner @Acai28 managed to get a DS Guitar Hero grip controller working, which if you haven’t seen before, is an attachment you snap onto the back of your DS to play the game with. They have colour-coordinated buttons much like the other peripherals, but lending to the smaller console size, it’s designed to be as handheld as the DS itself.

Fortnite Festival uses the same colour blocks(green, red, yellow, and blue), so it works perfectly. But you can’t just grab your old grip and connect it to the game as easy as that, you need an adapter. @Acai28 got theirs fromthefatbastid on eBayfor $25. It “allows your Guitar Hero On A Tour Guitar grip to be used as a four button controller on your computer”.
What Other Controllers Are Compatible In Fortnite Festival?
Since the grip is classified as a standard controller, it doesn’t need to register as a compatible guitar.
But if the idea of playing with a small DS controller doesn’t tickle your fancy, you can always just plug in the proper guitar peripherals instead. As of writing, the game supportsthe Riffmaster Wireless guitarand the Rock Band 4 Rivals Wireless Fender Jaguar and Stratocaster guitars.
However, these are pretty expensive, often selling in the $200-400 range. The DS grip is a lot cheaper, if a little less authentic.
