Summary

Fortnitedataminers have found the first bit of evidence for OG Season 2 in the latest update for the game, which seemingly confirms that it’ll use Chapter 2, Season 2’s map.

Yesterday,Epic Games randomly updated Fortnite out of nowhere and added an exciting new “classic” mode called Reload, which takes place on a map that uses Points of Interest from across Chapter 1. As great as it is to seeanother mode based on the early days of Fortnite, some fans were worried that it was 2024’s version of OG,something that has previously been confirmed to be making a return.

Although this might seem like a bit of a leap, it’s worth noting thatEpic said that Fortnite OG would be different when it returned in 2024, leaving fans wondering if Reload was supposed to be taking up that classic mantle. It seems that isn’t the case, however, as dataminers have found evidence for OG Chapter 2 in the files of the latest update.

Fortnite OG Chapter 2 Will Reportedly Use Chapter 2, Season 2’s Map

As reported by reliable Fortnite insider HYPEX over on Twitter, the latest update for Fortnite has been datamined to find evidence about the return of the OG mode in 2024.According to Twitter user t3ctor, the mode has been worked on over the last six months (and potentially for even longer), and there’s evidence in the files that suggest it’ll be using Chapter 2, Season 2’s map.

HYPEX’s tweet also suggests that OG Chapter 2 is coming in “late 2024”, although it’s not clear if that’s a guess based on the datamine or something found within the files.

According to text within Fortnite’s files that was found by t3ctor and boredcrow24, Fortnite’s second OG season could be codenamed “Apollo Retro”, as that’s what it’s referred to as in the game’s data. The data also refers to a “Ch2S2 retro map”, which seems to confirm that’s the era of Fortnite that it’s going to be focusing on.

Fortnite’s next OG mode using a map from Chapter 2 instead of Chapter 1 makes sense considering Epic previously said that it wanted the next version of the mode to be different from what it did in 2023. It’s technically a little less OG than last year’s take on the mode, but if “Apollo Retro” really is OG Season 2 and taking place on Chapter 2’s map, it’s sure to be just as nostalgic.
