Despite its size across the board and still being less than three months old, Best Buy has already knocked some money off its prices in its widerFinal Fantasysale.
Usually the industry standard $70 for triple-A games established during this current generation, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is currently on sale at Best Buy for $54.99. No, $15 might not sound like a lot in the grand scheme of things, but this is the first time the game has been on sale at a major retailer since its release as far as I’m aware. If you’ve been occupied with some of 2024’s other big games, or you’ve just been waiting for a price drop, here it is, earlier than you might have expected.

Final Fantasy Rebirth is the second part of the FF7 Remake project. It continues the story of Cloud Strife, a former SOLDIER turned mercenary who joins Avalanche, a group of eco-terrorists seeking to save the planet from the malevolent Sephiroth. As the party pushes out of Midgar, leaving the Shinra Corporation devastated, where will their paths take them?
Best Buy has a couple of other Final Fantasy games available for less if you already have Rebirth or you’re not ready for it yet. Final Fantasy 16 is also $15 less than usual, but since the 2023 release now retails for $50 at Best Buy, its price reduction means you can currently pick it up for only $34.99. If you’re looking for something wildly different but still want to reside in the sprawling Final Fantasy universe, Theatrhythm Final Bar Line onNintendo Switchis on sale for $44.99.

An action RPG from Square Enix Creative Business Unit III, Final Fantasy 16 takes place in the world of Valisthea. As Clive Rosfield, First Shield of Rosaria, you embark on a quest to find your missing younger brother.
Rebirth being on sale already, even if it is only at Best Buy for now, might be a reaction toSquare Enix revealing it, and Final Fantasy games in general, have been underperformingas of late on the sales front. Square hasn’t confirmed how many copies of Rebirth have sold during its first three months, but it’s safe to assume the publisher will have expected it to do big numbers.Final Fantasy 7is a series unto itself at this point and, no matter which Final Fantasy game you think is best, is arguably the biggest property under the Square banner, Final Fantasy or otherwise.
I can almost feel theKingdom Heartsfans staring at me through their screens after that last sentence, and while there’s the third part of theFinal Fantasy 7 Remaketrilogy still to come, and I’m sure Final Fantasy 17 at some point too, a lot of Square’s energy will be focused onKingdom Hearts 4right now. Even though it doesn’t have a release date, it’s almost guaranteed that the next game in the series will be here before the next Final Fantasy title.
