Summary

Fantasian, the belovedApple ArcadeRPG produced by the creator ofFinal Fantasy, has finally been confirmed to be coming to other consoles during today’sNintendo Direct.

As undeniably great as Apple Arcade has been for allowing developers to make mobile games with bigger-than-normal budgets, it’s also proven unpopular for anyone who doesn’t have an iPhone and can’t access those titles. Games likeRaymanMini,SonicDream Team, and Hello Kitty: Island Adventure are just a few of the many titles only available through Apple Arcade.

Without a doubt, the most notable example of a great game being locked behind the Apple Arcade is Fantasian,an RPG from the creator of Final Fantasy, Hironobu Sakaguchi, that was released in 2021 to rave reviews. It’s been three years since Fantasian originally launched on Apple’s service and fans have been waiting for the day it’d finally be made available on other platforms.

Fantasian Is Finally Leaving Its Apple Arcade Exclusivity Behind

That day is finally here. Early on in the Nintendo Direct, it was revealed that Fantasian is coming to Nintendo Switch as Fantasian: Neo Dimension. The Switch port of the game doesn’t seem to change up too much about the original release (at least from what we’ve been shown so far), but it’s good news for anyone who previously wanted to play the game but couldn’t because of its exclusivity.

As of the time of writing, Fantasian: Neo Dimension hasn’t been revealed for any other consoles beyond the Nintendo Switch, but it seems likely that it’ll also be coming to PlayStation and PC as well. We’ll update you if anything else is revealed about the planned platforms.

Fantasian isn’t the only game that has recently confirmed that it’s shedding its Apple Arcade exclusivity, asTMNT: Splintered Fate was revealed to be coming to other consoles during the last Nintendo Direct.

As nice of a surprise as it is to finally see Fantasian being made available on more platforms, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise. A few weeks ago, former trusted leaker Midori claimed that anApple Arcade exclusive would be leaving the service behind soon and that we’d learn what it was in June, which many took to mean Fantasian.
