Summary
InFallout: New Vegas, there are a wealth of different endings depending on what factions you side with and how you help them. The main paths are NCR, Caesar’s Legion, Mr. House, and Yes Man, deciding who gains control over Hoover Dam and the Strip.
75 percent of these endings result in Robert House’s death. Poor odds for the wasteland’s casino master, but one fan thinks they’ve found a way for him to surviveallof the endings, paving the way for his return in the TV series.

“If House can back up the aspects of Jane’s consciousness and port it to a [Securitron], I’m convinced he backed up his own and configured it to come online via a dead man’s switch,” one Reddit user suggested. “So, if the Courier betrayed him, it would just be a minor setback, he’d adjust his plans and bide his time before resurfacing. The House always wins… eventually.”
Mr House Surviving Would Explain The NCR Vertibirds And Securitrons Littering The Strip In The Fallout TV Series
At the end of the Amazon Prime series, we see the aftermath of a bloody battle between Securitrons and NCR troopers, with crashed vertibirds strewn across the Strip.
This didn’t happen in New Vegas, so it must have taken place afterwards. It’s unclear what ending led here, andthe show wants to avoid naming which one is canon. But Securitrons seemingly point to Mr House surviving (meaning his ending is canon) or Yes Man and the Courier winning, given that they took control over the Securitrons.
However, if this fan theory is true, it means that every single ending could be canon. Mr House or Yes Man wins and the NCR later attempts to take the Strip, or the NCR wins and Mr House’s backup retakes the Strip. At some point between these events, the NCR may have wrestled control fromCaesar’s Legion, or their grip on the Mojave fell apart after Caesar’s inevitable death from his brain tumour. Things are nice and ambiguous with a dead man’s switch in play.
If he died, he restored from backup many years later. If he won, whatever tears apart the Strip also kills his physical body, and then he restores from backup.
The one problem is that Mr House would be keenly aware of what happened during the events of New Vegas, but one fan has a suggestion on how to shut him up; “They may go the route of there being a backup but it was done before the events of Fallout: New Vegas, so House doesn’t know what happened exactly. Or data corruption, so the specific events can still be ambiguous.”
Regardless, with this theory, Mr. House can return even if you beat him to death with a golf club.
