Summary
Fallout 4’s current-gen update has just launched, but players who own the game throughPlayStation Plushave reported that they’re unable to download and access the latest patch.
We’ve all been waiting a long time for Fallout 4 to receive its current-gen updatefor PC,PS5, andXbox Seriesand, nearly two years after it was originally announced, the day has finally come. Just a few hours ago,the Fallout 4 current-gen update went live, granting most players access to all of the improvements and new contentthat the improved version of the game introduces.
Notice that I said “most” players. As reported by IGN, it seems that anyone who owns Fallout 4 as part of PlayStation Plus is currently unable to access the new update and is being asked to pay for it instead of being able to download the new version, which is supposed to be free for all players.
Fallout 4’s PS5 Version Is Currently Paywalled For PS Plus Users
As pointed out by Twitter user videotechuk_and verified by IGN, anyone who owns Fallout 4 on PlayStation through PS Plus instead of outright owning a digital or physical copy of the game is currently unable to download the new patch, forcing them to either stick with the previous PS4 version or purchase the game separately.
Although this might be setting off some alarm bells for PlayStation players who just want to jump back intoFallout 4, it’s worth noting that it does seem to be a mistake instead of Bethesda purposefully charging those who own the game via PS Plus. As confirmed by IGN, aBethesdarepresentative posted to the company’s discord and confirmed that it’s looking into the situation and aiming to fix it.
“PS5 Upgrade should be available for you if you OWN Fallout 4 on the PSN account. Still looking into this for the PS+ users!”
On the flip side, things seem to be going fine for PC and Xbox players, who have been able to download the update with little issue, although time will tell if the new version of the game brings about some new problems. We already know that Fallout London has been delayed because of the update, which is enough of a casualty on its own, but here’s hoping the problems with the PS Plus version get fixed soon.
