How The Testaments Of Night System Works

TheTestaments of Night is a modifier system.Activating certain modifiers willadd unique challenges to your runs, making them tougher. As this feature only appears after you have beaten the game once, thissystem is not designed for beginners.

When youinteract with the tablet, you will findTestaments on the leftside of the menu andVows on the rightside.Testaments show the bossesthat must be beaten, andvows are the modifiersyou must activate before you go on the run.

Testament activation conditions in Hades 2

Before activating any Testament, look at the bottom ofeach boss card: they have an icon with one of Melinoe’s weapons. Also, check out thetop of the card: it has a purple skullwith a digit before it, which representsthe fear level. To activate the Testament, you need toequip the weapon shownandreach the displayed fear level.

Increasing the fear bar requires selecting one or more Vowsfrom the right side of the menu screen. For example, if you have a Scylla and the Sirens card withMelinoe’s Witch’s Staffand the purple skull has a two, you mustequip Melinoe with the Witch’s Staffandactivate at least two Vows.

Everyboss card will always remain grayed out (disabled)until you equip the specified weapon andactivate the Vows to raise the required fear level.

If you don’t fill the requisites, the Testament remains disabled for the future run, which means it will have the default difficulty.

Vow Of Blood Rank 2 in Hades 2

Some Vows have ranks that you can intensify.Intensifying a Vowfrom rank one to rank threecounts as three fear levels. So if you see a skull with a three, you can choose between selecting three different Vows or just intensifying one to rank three.

For example, if you activate rank one of the Vow of Blood, enemies will inflict 20 percent increased damage to Melinoe. At rank two, this increases to 60 percent; at rank three, the damage buff against Melinoe increases to 100 percent.

Since each modifier offers unique challenges during a run, sometimesit is wise to limit the negative effects of certain Vows by activating and intensifying a single Vow type. This will help you remember to be cautious against a certain effect during the run.

Every time you beat an active Testament, theoverall fear level requirement will increase for future runs. For example, when you interact with thetablet for the first time, allbosses will have one fear level requirement. However, as you complete Testaments and return to Crossroads every night, the fear level of some cards will gradually increase.
