The villagers inStardew Valleyare one of the best aspects of the game, and there are so many positives to count that make them the ideal friends or marriage candidates. From your very first day in Pelican Town, your neighbors are some of the most lovely people to be around.
No matter who you choose to give your attention, bachelor or bachelorette, the heart events, cutscenes, and dialogue options are flexible and entertaining. Each villager has a complex backstory, and there’s no limit to their green flag potential. There’s no limit to the playtime you get with each villager, either!
13Shane
Fatherly
There’s little aboutShanethat he tells you right away, and you don’t get to know him much unless you advance your relationship with him by at least six hearts. You’ll learn that, despite his self-destructive habits, he’s very caring aboutJasand his petChicken, Charlie.
As you progress your relationship with Shane, he is able to start recovering from his alcoholism, and you watch him take on a proper father-like role in Jas' life, finding happiness in taking care of her and you.
12Sam
Family Oriented
Sam’s not just gifted, but it’s definitely the first thing you notice aboutSam. He’s a musician, a gamer, and a skater boy, but beyond that, he takes care of his little brother Vincent and spends time with his friends.
He creates a band withAbigailandSebastian, and they perform in Zuzu City in his eight-heart event. He’s got so much potential, and his music career really starts to take off if you choose to marry him. Plus, he’s always down to hang out.
11Leah
Artistic
Not only isLeaha skilled forager, full of foraging tips for you, but she is also a passionate artist! She works with sculpture, but in her fourteen-heart event, she paints a portrait of Marnie with you. She always has a bright smile for you, regardless of how many hearts you have with her.
In warmer seasons, she can also be seen sketching on the pier of the pond in Cindersap Forest, where she’s a beacon of information. Leah inspires new players and motivates experienced players.
10Alex
Emotionally Strong
Physical strength isn’t everything, andAlexlives by that. His attitude towards you isn’t the best at first, but Alex begins toopen up emotionally the more you talk to him. He’s an athlete who can often be found in theSpa’s gym, and he wants to be a professional gridballplayer.
In his 14-heart event, he organizes a new tradition of watching gridball in the back room of the Stardrop Saloon with Gus, George, Kent, and Shane. Alex can be snarky, but he’s got a good heart.
9Emily
Meditative
Emily’s cup of tea is spirituality. She’s a big believer in the power of nature. She works at the Stardrop Saloon, so unless you’re in there as often as Pam, you might not come across her as much, but when you do, she always has a positive outlook on the day.
All of her heart events are her expressing her passions: dance, meditation, or fashion. She’s a designer, and in her house, there’s even a station for you todye your clothesdifferent colors. When you marry her, she’s often seen meditating!
8Haley
Charitable
If you’re getting to knowHaley, this might be a surprise, but while she can be cold, she’s sweet to you and will give youplenty of giftsas your wife. Once you start dating Haley or even close enough to encounter her eight-heart event, her persona changes for the better.
Her 14-heart event raises money for new library books, and for someone who seems self-centered at first, she has an extremely generous side. If Pelican Town had a soup kitchen or a food bank, Haley would be there, too!
7Maru
Inventive
Maruis a woman of many talents. From inventing to scientific research to working at Harvey’s clinic, she does it all and still has time for you and her friends. She’s a successful woman in STEM, and her gifts are oftenlab creations like Totems.
She is also fond of stargazing, and that’s the source of two of her heart events: the six-heart event and her fourteen-heart event. Inventive means she not only creates in her room and lab, but she has plenty of ideas for her friends and for date night.
6Penny
Nurturing
Pennyis most often seen with the children, Jas and Vincent, since she’s their tutor, so the nurturing side of Penny is easy to spot. She aspires to have a big family of her own, so it’s easy to see why she’s so sweet toJasandVincent.
Her instinct to look after those around her doesn’t end with the children or her family, though, it also extends to you! When you choose to marry Penny, all of her gifts except for one (Geodes) are a home-cooked meal. Food is her love language!
5Harvey
Considerate
Not only doesHarveymanage an entire medical clinic, but he’s good at planning dates, too! His ten-heart event involves him renting out an entire hot-air balloon ride for the two of you. He’ll be the one taking care of you after you forget how late it is and are still inCalico Desertby the time it hits 1 AM.
He’s kind to every villager in town, looking after them even outside his doctoral responsibilities. Maru, specifically, has been taken under his wing, and it’s nice to see how well he treats her too.
4Elliott
Creative
Most of the villagers have an art they’re passionate about, but not all the villagers dabble in many arts at once.Elliott’shouse on the beach, which you can enter after reaching at least four hearts with him, has a piano, stacks of books, and a blank book that he’s planning on writing.
He’s a writer first, but it’s impressive how much he accomplishes over the course of your relationship. It’s important to lean into your creative side every so often, and Elliott is there to remind you to!
