Steal Eggs From Monster Dens To Hatch Into New Monsties

Though we’ll try not to think of the implications of defeating a parent and stealing its babies for our own, you’llget new Monstiesof your own in Monster Hunter Stories byhatching them from eggs you’ve collectedas you explore the world.

Not long into the game, soon after you’re allowed out of Hakum Village to begin exploringPondry Hills, you’ll have your attention drawn to acave that appears someplacein a specific regionof the world. Every region has its own sets of Monsties, so you’ll need to do a bit of exploring in every region if you’re hoping to finishfilling out your Monsterpedia.

Rare monster dens are denoted asgold caves, so be sure to head into any you find - you could be walking out with a really cool new Monstie!

Walking into one of these caves puts you into an entryway (or several, depending on the rarity of the den) that’s oftenguarded by different kinds of monsters(and typically loaded withplenty of good resources to forage!). Whether you fight these monsters is up to you, but your overall goal is tomake it to the back of the cave, which is where you’ll find the den’s eggs.

In this next area, you’ll see even more resources lying about with theegg nest in the middle of the clearingthat you’ll enter after a brief loading screen, and occasionally alsoa monster protecting the nest. If one isn’t there when you first arrive, it mayspawn as you explore the egg nest area, so be quick if you’re not looking for a fight!

You’re liable to find eggs from all previous areas as you progress into new ones. We got stuck taking an Aptonoth egg in Monsonne Plains and weren’t too excited!

Hop off your Monstie and head on up into the egg nest, andinteract with the nest to steal an egg. You’ll notice plenty ofdifferent colors and patterns, in addition toNavirou telling you if you’ve found something rare.

If you’re not happy with the first egg you get, you cancycle through a few different eggs, but eventually thenest will be empty, which means you’reforced to take the last egg you were holding, so choose wisely!

The tricky part of finding eggs in Monster Hunter Stories isn’t so muchfindingthem as it isidentifying unique eggs based on their colors and patterns, since you’ll learn soon enough thateach monster egg has two possible colors and patterns. This removes a lot of the guess-work, since you’ll know what to look for in order to track down new monster eggs.

Once you’re happy with the egg you’ve chosen, simplywalk back to where you came in. Navirou will ask if you’re ready to go, so confirm that you are, and you’ll betransported back outside the Monster Denonce again, without need to trek back through the entryway.

How To Hatch Monstie Eggs

Unless you really need new Monsties on your team, it’s often wise tosave up your eggs and hatch them in bulkwhen you’re near astable.They’re run by cats with eggs near them, sospeak to the catto get started.

Doing so will open up a menu that offers the option to eitherchange out your current partyand store Monsties you’re not bringing out with you at the moment, or you can peek at yourEgg Carton, which is where you’ll find all yourunhatched Monstie eggs. To get things started,select the egg you’d like to hatchand get to work.

As the egg hatches, you cantap to interact with the egg, which willboost that Monstie’s attack, defense, or base HP. It’s a good way to experiment with stats and see what works best for you and your play style!

If you hatch a new Monstie you’d like to add to your party, be sure to do so byrearranging your party at the stable, too - if the party is full, you’ll automatically store new Monsties, so best readjust the party before you venture out.

We had an easier time finding Red Khezu eggs than we did regular Khezu eggs, so keep your eyes peeled.

Yellow

Though it’s a fairly small area, you may also find a few of the eggs from the Monsonne Plains in the rare Dens in the Perennial Pass, so keep your eye out for golden Monster Dens!
