Summary
Daxter was added to the PlayStation Plus Classic Games Catalogue earliier today, finally bringing the PSP spin-off to modern consoles after 18 years. It’s a huge moment for fans, but there’s far more to this story than just a port.
With Daxter now available on PS4 and PS5, every singleJak and Daxtergame is playable on one console for the first time in the series' history.Fellow PSP spin-off The Lost Frontier was re-released in Marchand the original trilogy was ported to PS4 way back in 2017 alongside X: Combat Racing.

That means thatall six gamesare now playable on modern PlayStation consoles, so you may do a full Jak marathon without having to jump between old platforms, emulation, and newer ports. If you’re planning to do just that, here’s a quick rundown of the chronological order:
The PS2 Platformer Comeback Is Finally Happening
It’s not just Jak that’s booming on PlayStation. The firstSly Coopergame was also ported to PS4 and PS5 as part of the Classics Catalogue last week, and it’s already among the most popular ports on the platform.
Many hope to see the sequels ported to modern consoles in future, and plenty more are crossing their fingers fora full revival of the series. With developer Sucker Punch busy developing Ghost of Tsushima 2—and outright confirming that it has"no plans" for Slyor Infamous sequels—it seems unlikely that the studio will return to the series any time soon (the same goes with Naughty Dog and Jak), but perhaps someone else could take the reins.
Whatever ends up happening, the community is calling on one another to make it clear that the love for Sly hasn’t died down amidst his lengthy hiatus. To make themselves heard, they’re asking fans to leave reviews on the PlayStation Store, buy the game outright, and play any Sly ports that come to the Classics Catalogue.
Hopefully, it doesn’t end with Sly and Jak—the original PS2 and PSPRatchet & Clankgames still have yet to launch on PS4 and PS5.
