These outfits are not only aesthetically pleasing, but can benefit your jockey career at the Gold Saucer by providing your loving bird some much-needed stats to compete with the best of them in theChocobo Racing minigame.
While optional, these gear sets will buff your bird and help you gather even more Gold Saucer points to exchange for any of the amazing items available at the prize counter, yet nothing is more valuable than being the best jockey around.
11Shinra Avian
The Shinra Avian gear is some of the first that you can acquire for your first chocobo, and while it will increase its stats quite a bit, every other piece of gear in the game completely outclasses it.
This set is not bad by any means, but by the time you reach the Gold Saucer and are able to participate in chocobo races, you should have even better gear. Plus, do you really want to support a company like Shinra by putting their gear on your beloved chocobo?
Increase speed.
Breastplate
Increase the chance of dashing out of the gate and increase speed on success.

10Scorpion
Another early-game set, the Scorpion gear, while it does not give you an overall boost to your stats as the Shinra Avian set, its familiar design will win over plenty of people who played Final Fantasy 7 Remake.
If you are looking for a fast gear set, the Scorpion gear will add two more charges to the dashes you’re able to stockpile and won’t slow you down if the speed is too much for you to handle. This way, you won’t end up on the grassy areas of the tracks.
Increase the number of dash charges by one.
Greaves
Lessen how much you slow down when you leave the track.
9Rodeo
Putting a cowboy hat on anything automatically makes it better. The Rodeo set, while cute, is also extremely functional. This set will turn your chocobo into a drifting machine with its Legwraps, while giving you a free dash during your last lap in case you fall a bit behind.
It also gives you a hefty increase in speed and weight, making your chocobo a tank in some of the more crowded races with tight corners that will hinder your speed.
Increase weight.
Poncho
Gain a dash charge upon entering the final lap unless your charges are full.
Increase drift duration and speed.
8Merc
One of the cutest charactersintroduced in the remakes of Final Fantasy 7 is Kyrie. Her iconic outfit can now be replicated in chocobo form through the Merc accessory set.
Unlocked only through the Hardest Sell quest, this outfit can provide huge stat boosts to your chocobo. The only problem is that the abilities are subpar. The Legwraps are situational at best and the cap can even hinder you if you rely on your chocobo’s ability to help you get ahead of the race.

7Saurian
The Saurian set is one of the best that you’re able to find in the early game. With amazing acceleration and intelligence, this gear set can help you take an early lead or catch up by interrupting your opponents with your chocobo abilities.
The only downside to the set is that it gets massively outclassed by the Gi set, which offers similar stats with much better skills. But at least this one will make your chocobo look like a dinosaur and who doesn’t love dinosaurs?
Slightly increase speed if placed 7th or lower.
Lessen how much you slow down when running on water.
6Mystical
While you won’t be taking corners like a master with this set, the Mystical gear will help you become the speediest chocobo jockey around. Unlike some of the more specialized sets, the Mystical gear gives your chocobo huge boosts in most stats, while sacrificing a bit of acceleration and cornering.
The skills provided are nothing to scoff at either. Extra speed on straightaways, strength to prevent you from being knocked, and even a speed increase when in the first place will save you in those final laps.

Slightly increase speed if in first place heading into the final lap.

5Gi
Where the Gi set lacks in speed, it makes up with the best acceleration and intelligence stat boost overall. With this set, you’ll be able to start the race incredibly strong. But if the race includes too many speed power-ups for your opponents to pick up, then you might be in trouble.
The skills that this set provides can also help you clutch out a race. If you fall behind quite a bit, the Headdress will increase all your stats if you fall to seventh place or lower.

Dramatically increase all attributes if placed seventh or lower heading into the final lap.

4Tropical
How about a nice stroll byCosta del Solwith your chocobo? If that’s the case, then this Tropical set is for you! The set is one of the best overall sets, as it gives your chocobo buffs all across the board, making your bird a jack of all trades.
The Tropical set skills, especially the Shawl, can send your chocobo into the upper echelons of the tracks in an instant. All that hard work will earn you a free vacation to Johnny’s beautiful seaside inn.
Increase the efficacy of items picked up.

Temporarily increase speed dramatically after recovering from going out of bounds or crashing.
3Treasure Hunter
Just like the Tropical set, the Treasure Hunter gear gives a buff to every single one of your bird’s stats, but this one ups the ante. Focusing on weight and intelligence, the Treasure Hunter set turns your chocobo into a war chariot by giving you a partially filled ability gauge at the start of the race.
With its incredible stats, you’ll have no problem taking a lead early on in the race. But if a straggler is ever able to pass you, you should be able to take them out with an ability easily.

2Debonair
Another set with significant buffs on every stat, the Debonair set focuses more on cornering, strength, and intelligence, making your chocobo one of the sturdiest birds on the track at the esteemed Gold Saucer.
The roaring 20’s inspired outfit will easily win you races, but if you mess up taking some corners, the gear has plenty of last-lap bonus skills that will put you right back on top of the leaderboard if you can handle its high speed and dashing good looks.
