If you’re getting tired of traversingMonster Hunter Stories’colossal overworld on foot, you’re not alone! Even with the Monsties that know how to Dash to help pick up the speed, it takes a long time to run across the overworld, especially if you’re not trying to fight any monsters along the way.
Thankfully, the Catavan service is your premier fast travel in Monster Hunter Stories, capable of carting you to any area you’ve already seen yourself. Venture there once on foot and then pay the friendly Felynes to cart you, Navirou, and your Monsties anywhere you want to go.

Updated on July 22, 2025:Now that we’ve finished playing through Monster Hunter Stories, we’re back to finish our guide to all Catavan locations in MHST to finish helping you get around the overworld. We’ve also included several links to other Monster Hunter Stories content we’ve published since.
How To Unlock Fast Travel
You’ll see your first Catavan stand while you’re out inPondry Hills, shortly aftercompleting your ceremonyandbecoming a fully-fledged Rider. After leaving town,go left after leaving Hakum Village, and you’ll see ahigh ridge to the left, so wrap around to the far side and climb back up to locate your first Catavan stand.
Except, this stand is out of commission - amonster nearby in the cave has stolen the wheelof the Catavan, and now,the friendly Felynedriving the Catavan in MHST can’t do much until they get it back. That’s where you, Navirou, and your Monsties come in - you’ll need toslaythe Yian Kut-Kuthat stole the wheelin a battle.

Return to the Catavan driverwith the busted cart and return the wheel to unlock fast travel in Monster Hunter Stories with the Catavan stands. This Felyne will immediately take you back to Hakum Village (which unlocks the Catavan stand back there), and you’ll then be able tofind other Catavan stops as you explorethrough the game.
You canonly travel to stands you’ve unlocked, so be sure to drop in when you see one. You don’t need to actually interact with the stand to activate it - simplywalking near the umbrella to open itwill activate that Catavan stop permanently.

You can alsomanually save the gameat a Catavan stand. Catavan stands near major battles are typically only save points or exit options if you’re underprepared - youcan’t travel to a Catavan location that doesn’t have an umbrella.
Settlement Catavan Stops

These become available gradually as you progress through the story. You’ll also find a Felyne offering a restorative nap, and typically some kind of treasure.
