What Is Vecna Eve Of Ruin About?
As a fifty-year celebration, Vecna Eve Of Ruin takes players through famous and well-known D&D locations as their party once again becomes the heroes who need to save the world. This time, they’re up against Vecna, the lich who is now a god. He’s out to rewrite history and become all-powerful, as you’d expect with the Ritual of Reawakening. So, what is this ritual, and what do you need to know about it as a DM?
The adventure contains unrealities and demiplanes, which may sound confusing, but they’re all explained and labeled well enough to be straightforward.

You’ll need to understand that this Ritual of Reawakening is meant to alter reality to fit Vecna’s rewrite. To understand how Vecna wants to rewrite reality, you’ll need to take a look at his demiplanes in later chapters.
Vecna has created demiplanes in his attempt to rewrite reality. These were practice pocket dimensions Vecna created in his attempts to rewrite the multiverse. These specific demiplanes are examples of what will happen when Vecna rewrites history.

From turning an entire city into death knights that serve him or Vecna killing every god in the multiverse to take their power and scatter their bones across the astral sea, these unrealities are dangerous, and a brief look into what might happen should he succeed in rewriting reality.
The party will become linked to Vecna throughout the adventure, and flashing scenes of this ending can help incentivize the party to stop him.

The entire plan hinges on the secrets he’s learned to help create this new reality, and the party discovers those secrets to thwart his plans with the help of the Rod of Seven Parts, the magical item they’ll need to collect to stop Vecna.
