We’re so close to the launch of Elden Ring’s Shadow of the Erdtree DLC that you can taste it, with the reviews now dropping containing all kinds of juicy info on what we’ll be getting up to in the Land of Shadows. It’s almost universal acclaim across the board, and while there are some outliers here and there, they haven’t stopped Shadow of the Erdtree from snagging an eye-watering score of 95 on Metacritic.

Shadow of the Erdtree beating an expansion like Blood and Wine should probably tell you what you’re in for, with many regarding Geralt’s last hurrah as one of the best open world experiences out there. That’s not even mentioning the fact that this is now considered FromSoftware’s best ever DLC, beating expansions likeDark Souls 3’sAshes of Ariandel andBloodborne’sThe Old Hunters DLC.

There’s also the fact that Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree isthe highest rated game so far this year, beating the likes ofFinal Fantasy 7 Rebirth,Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, the aforementioned Destiny 2: Final Shape, and indie games likeBalatroandAnimal Well. It’s not all that surprising, since Elden Ring is just as highly rated, but it does show that FromSoftware has put it’s all into Shadow of the Erdtree, with some considering it a full-on sequel.
