Summary
InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, there are sprawling underground forges overflowing with magma foundacross the Land of Shadow. They’re defended by stone, troll-like creatures, the blacksmith denizens, who can only be harmed via attacking the crystal on their back. But fans are having a hard time fighting them, and not becausethey’re difficult.
From afar, you can watch them pet the magma slimes and even nap in the ruins. They seem harmless. What’s worse, it’s hard not to draw comparisons to the big friendly giant blacksmith inDark Soulswho we found slumped over their forge dead in the third game—I don’t wanna be responsible for that!

Great, now I feel like a total a–hole.
“These smiths keep fire slimes as pets!! Awe!!! AWEEEE!!!!!” tweeted @MarikasMischief. “Dude I don’t want to [kill them], they’re not doing me any harm, don’t make me kill them. These lovable oafs also just sit around and take naps??? I’m so in love???”
People Are Even Struggling To Kill The Slimes Now
Sure, the blacksmiths are cute, but the fact that the magma slimes like a good head scratch is even cuter. And frankly, I don’t want to stick my hand in that molten goo—only a stone troll could do that, and here we are slaughtering them all. That means nobody to pet the cute little slimes.
“Wait no I killed all the slimes and left the smiths,” @pie_mf tweeted, clearly in despair.
When will it be my turn to have a fire slime pet.
“They’re cute when they ain’t taking half your health coming from the ceiling,” said another fan. You can always just run past. Slimes have been in every Souls game and they’re usually more tedious to kill than ignore, anyway.
You can even run past the blacksmiths to complete the dungeons, so you don’t have to kill anyone. Leave them to pet their lil slimes in peace, yeah?
