Summary
Elden Ringmanga author Nikiichi Tobita has announced that he’s going on hiatus to play the game’s upcomingShadow of the Erdtree DLC, and July 19’s scheduled update to Road to the Erdtree has been skipped as a result.
With Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree dropping at the end of the week, it feels like everyone is getting their excuses in now as to why they’re about to fall horribly ill or have suddenly received a wedding invitation from a distant cousin to get out of work. You could also go the direct route with sheer honesty if you’re brave enough, which is exactly what Elden Ring manga author Nikiichi Tobita has done in preparation for June 21.

Announced on Twitter earlier today(thanksAutomaton), Tobita has explained that the official Road to the Erdtree manga’s next update on July 19 will be skipped, literally because he’ll be on hiatus due to the launch of Shadow of the Erdtree. Given that his whole deal is adapting the story of Elden Ring into a series of comedy skits, we can chalk it up as research. Don’t worry Tobita, I’ve got you covered.
Elden Ring’s Manga Author Is Going On Hiatus To Play Shadow Of The Erdtree
If this is the first time you’re actually hearing about an Elden Ring manga, then you’re in for a treat.Elden Ring: Road to the Erdtreeis essentially a retelling of the main plot beats from the game, but through a comedy filter. It’s how you get incredible images of Melina and Torrent standing over a naked Tarnished, or the revelationthat Flasks are actually stored on your person by sticking them to each buttcheek.
It’s updated fairly regularly by Tobita, and is even released in both Japanese and English. You cancheck out the latest chapter hereif you’re interested (which was just made available today), but be aware you’ll be waiting a while for the next one now. Tobita needs to play Shadow of the Erdtree, and not even FroMSoftware themselves can stop him from doing so.
