Summary
It’s been a little over a decade since the last college football game was widely available, and EA Sports College Football 25 looks to rectify that.
On July 19, college football will officially be back. Already, on Thursday, fans got a first look at the game’s inaugural coverathletes andthe three editions that will be available at launch. Now, EA Sports has debuted a reveal trailer, highlighting many of the athletes and school traditions that will be included in the game.

Now, we have confirmation of the four main modes that will launch with the game. It’s a mix of old favorites and new ideas, so here’s how it all will shake out.
Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. Both Dynasty and Road to Glory will be in the game at launch. There was some concern about whether either would be in the new game, but that has been addressed now.
For the uninitiated, Dynasty mode allows players to create their own coach as they take the reins of a college football program and attempt to turn it into an actual dynasty. Players can manage all facets of the game, including recruiting and staff, and all of that will be present in College Football 25.
What’s most interesting is the fact that the transfer portal will play a key role in the game. The transfer portal is a real-life database where student-athletes can put their name in as they request to transfer. From there, interested colleges and universities can contact students and attempt to recruit them to their institution. It appears like the portal will work the same way in-game as it does in real life.
Road to Glory carries a lot of the same features as previous titles, where players take a created character and attempt to win the Heisman trophy – an award given to the nation’s best college football player annually. Per EA’s website, it looks like some life-sim elements will be built into the mode, including managing a schedule and GPA.
Additionally, the transfer portal will also be part of Road to Glory. As EA puts it, “Use the transfer portal to get the time and glory you deserve.” In other words, players can flip schools if the fit isn’t there.
Ultimate Team Will Be In The Game, Plus A New Mode
In the time since EA’s last college football release (2013), Ultimate Team and Ultimate Team-like modes have become increasingly popular and profitable. It’s no surprise, then, that College Football 25 will have its own take on a team-building mode.
It’ll work functionally the same as other Ultimate Team modes, and promises to have current college football stars and past legends available. All of that sounds great, and it’ll be interesting to see which players make it into the game, but given that these modesplace a heavy emphasis on microtransactions and pay-to-win mechanics, it’s best to take a wait-and-see approach.
Finally, Road to the College Football Playoff is a new mode that will allow players to take a college team and attempt to rise up the ranks in an effort to win the National Championship. Functionally, it sounds like a season mode, but it will feature the real-life branding of bowl games and the College Football Playoff.
Regardless of your stance on the inclusion of Ultimate Team, it looks like EA Sports has taken into account all sorts of play styles in an effort to create the most robust college football game. There’s something for players interested in simulation-type games, create-a-player modes and actual head-to-head gameplay.
With July 19 rapidly approaching, it seems like a given that more and more info will be released very soon.
