Summary

Team Asano “regrets” announcing theDragon Quest3 HD-2D remaster too early. The game was revealed three years ago andonly just got a release date.

“People have said that it’s taken too long since the announcement of the start of development, but all of our titles until now have taken three to four years to develop, so in truth it’s not anything special,” Team Asano tweeted, as translated by @Genki_JPN. “But the announcement was made way earlier than usual (which we regret). So, thank you for your support”.

It Has Been Seven Years Since The Last Mainline Dragon Quest

Dragon Quest 11 launched in 2017, which—as horrible as it is to admit—was seven years ago. We’ve had spin-offs since thenbut no mainline games. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D isn’t a sequel or a completely new entry, but it’s a return to the series proper for the first time in almost a decade. It launches on November 14, so we won’t have to wait long to delve back into the world of Torland.

We also have Dragon Quest 1 and 2 HD-2D remasters to look forward to which were announced for the first time during yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, bringing the Erdrick trilogy to modern audiences.

All we know so far about Dragon Quest 12: The Flames of Fate is that it’s still in development, surviving the wave of Square Enix cancellations earlier this year. When we can expect to get our hands on it is unclear, but an entire trilogy is headed our way in the meantime.
