Future Gohan in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero.

But as Sergio notes in his video, even if October 1 is a placeholder, it at least gives us a rough estimate of when the game could come out. It also wouldn’t be the firstBandai Namcogame to release exactly on the first day of the month.Jujutsu Kaisen: Cursed Clash dropped exactly on February 1 earlier this year.

Why A 2024 Release Makes Sense

This datamine lends further credibility to a 2024 release for Sparking Zero. Just one week ago, the game was rated inSingapore and was listed with a 2024 release date.

But beyond ratings and datamines, a 2024 release has always made sense for Sparking Zero. Dragon Ball as a franchise is celebrating its 40th anniversary this year. That is 40 years sincethe late Akira Toriyama’s manga was first serialized.

In honor of that 40th anniversary, a new anime is also slated for release. TitledDragon Ball: Daima, the series will premiere in the Fall 2024 window of anime releases. It’s an original story that was conceptualized by Toriyama prior to his passing.

Beyond the milestone anniversary, Dragon Ball games have also historically had October release dates. Each of theBudokai Tenkaichi games, which Sparking Zero is a spiritual successor to, were released in October, specifically the first few days of the month.Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2was also released in October.

In other words, October is a prime month for a launch, especially if the anime also debuts that month.

It’s Been A Packed Week For Sparking Zero News

Beyond a potential release date coming out, this week also saw the confirmation of several characters and a new mode.Goten, Kid Trunks, Kale and Caulifla were all confirmed, courtsey of a V-Jump scan.

Not only that, but their fusion forms were also confirmed: Gotenks and Kefla. That opens the door for other fusion forms to also appear, like Gogeta and Vegito. Beyond that, a 5v5 mode was also shared, though details on how that mode will work are sparse. We do havesome ideas on how things could work for the mode.

With summer rapidly approaching, it’s safe to assume that a trailer and expanded info will make its way into one of the many events. Only time will tell how soon that will happen.
