Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero Is Releasing October 11

As promised, Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero showed up during Summer Game Fest 2024. The trailer, which was a little bit over a minute, showcased many of the game’s roster members, including Bardock, Ultra Instict Goku and Majin Vegeta among others. It also gave a glimpse of the game’s story mode.

What’s most interesting about the story mode is that it will seemingly have alternate events. The trailer features a tagline of “Reclaim New Possibilities,” which hints at alternate moments. It’s followed up by a scenario where Goku can choose to fight alongside Piccolo in the Saiyan Saga to save Gohan, or go at it alone. The trailer showcases the solo route and Goku takes off on his Flying Nimbus with Krilling chasing after him, pleading him to reconsider.

The typical story beats of Dragon Ball Z were all showcased, such as Gohan taking on Cell and Jiren facing off against Ultra Instinct Goku in the Universe Survival Saga of Dragon Ball Super. As the trailer ended, it also gave a glimpse of the preorder bonuses for the upcoming spiritual successor of the Budokai Tenkaichi series. Preorders will receive an early unlock of six fighters, including all forms of Gogeta and Broly. Another playable character is teased, though it was not revealed.

Although it’s great to finally have a release date for Sparking Zero, it doesn’t come as much of a surprise that it was finally revealed today. Over the past few weeks, several bits of evidence have dropped that indicated that the game wasn’t far off. A datamine firstsuggested that Sparking Zero would release in October, which was then followed up by adocument that implied the game only had six months left until it had to release.

All of this wasalso backed up by reliable Twitter insider billbil_kun, who suggested that pricing options for Sparking Zero (including an Ultimate Edition) had recently been decided, suggesting a release date was on the way. As Summer Game Fest has proven, that was all on the mark.
