Summary

Earlier this month,BioWare showed us a cut-down version of Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s openingin which Pride Demons litter the streets of Minrathous as Solas appears to be tearing down the Veil, but it ends right as he inadvertentlysummons two new villains. We don’t have to wait until release to find out what happens next, though.

In the new issue ofGame Informer, it’s revealed that Solas freed two elven gods—Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain—and that he has been trapped in the Fade “by our doing”.

Elgar’nan is the first elven god, the deity of vengeance. Ghilan’nain is known as the Mother of the halla, revered by hunters who pray to her to find their way home.

Solas, the Dread Wolf, tells Rook that he was attempting to move Elgar’nan and Ghilan’nain to a new prison because the one he constructed was failing, but the ritual went awry and they were freed while Solas was trapped instead. To make matters worse, Rook’s blood intermingled with the ritual and tied them to the Fade forever, not to mention the state that Solas left Minrathous in.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard’s Base Of Operations Is A Lighthouse In The Fade

Shortly after the opening and the revelation that two elven gods are on the loose, Rook, Harding, and Neve wake up in Solas' lair. It’s a lighthouse at the centre of several floating islands located within the Fade itself, and according to Game Informer, will serve a similar function as Skyhold did in Inquisition.

It’s like when you go to a friend’s house and see their bedroom for the first time; you get to learn more about them.

The main area of Solas' Lighthouse that we’ll find ourselves strategising in with other members of the Veilguard is the library. And throughout the game, the Lighthouse will look less like Solas' bachelor pad and more homely as we put our stamp on it, making it an HQ more befitting a band of adventuring friends trying to save the world.
