Summary

It’s official: we’re seeing our Inquisitors again inDragon Age: The Veilguard. As confirmed by BioWare, The Veilguard will have two character creation screens, one for our new characterand another for our Inquisitor.

This was shared ahead ofDragon Age: The Veilguard’s gameplay reveal, which kicks off in a few hours. Here, we’re expecting to get a better look at the new Tevtintan setting, as well as the new combat mechanics.

More Details On Dragon Age: The Veillguard Revealed

However, before we’ve seen more than a few glimpses of gameplay,BioWarehas answered some of the most pressing questions we have about The Veilguard. The highlight here is the return of the protagonist from the last game, and that we’ll be able to “make a few key decisions” that dictate how the game will start. If I had to guess, these are likely related to the state of the Inquisition itself (i.e. did we disband it) and which characters survived the events of Inquisition.

There’s been no comment on whether The Veilguard will use the Dragon Age Keep - the current method of keeping track of player decisions across the series. If not, we might see less reactivity to our choices than we have in the past two instalments, with The Veilguard perhaps opting to focus more on Inquisiton thanDragon Age: Originsand 2. Of course, that is just speculation at this stage.

It’s also been confirmed that our new character will be called Rook. It’s unclear if this is a default name we can change, but that’s the name being used in the marketing.

At the very least, it looks like origins themselves are set to return in some capacity. During character creation, we’ll be able to choose from six different factions, including the Antivan Crows, Grey Wardens, and the Shadow Dragons. The latter is a relatively new faction in the lore, so we’ll have to wait for more details about them.

And last but by no means least, it has been confirmed that Harding - Scout Harding from Inquisition - will be a romance option. This is somewhat surprising, and not just because she’ll be the first romancable dwarf in the series. While not as fleshed out as other options, you could actually get with her in Inquisition. As long as you flirted with her and didn’t start any other romances, the two of you started a relationship, albeit off-screen. Maybe the Inquisitor is only appearing in The Veilguard to kick our asses.

In any case, we’ll get some more details shortly at the gameplay reveal. It’s set to kick off at 8AM PT/11AM ET.
