There have been plenty of rumors regarding a new Doom for quite some time, which isn’t too surprising considering it’s been over 4 years since Doom Eternal mulched and maimed its way onto PC and consoles. Last year, court documents from the FTC v Microsoft case revealed thata Doom game was in development under the title “Year Zero,“which hinted at a possible prequel for the Doom Slayer coming in the next few years.

Well, it now seems as though Xbox is finally preparing to give us a look at what the future of the series holds, asa new report from Insider Gaminghas claimed that the next title in the series will be called Doom: The Dark Ages, and will be fully revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase which is scheduled to take place next month.
Doom: The Dark Ages Will Reportedly Be “Medieval-Inspired”
According to Insider Gaming, it’s possible that Doom: The Dark Ages could look very different to the likes of Doom and Doom Eternal, as the game will reportedly be “medieval-inspired,” as suggested by its title. Combined with the fact that the game has been in development under the codename “Year Zero,” it does suggest that we’ll be diving into the Doom Slayer’s past, and possibly his origins.
We’re not going to have to wait too long to see the game for ourselves anyway, if the rumors of it showing up at next month’s Xbox Showcase are accurate. The show isscheduled to take place on June 9and is expected to give us a look at what Xbox has in the pipeline for the rest of the year and beyond, including a first look atCall of Duty: Black Ops 6, whichwas confirmed this week after a flurry of mysterious teases.
