Summary
After months of rumours and speculation,Doom: The Dark Ageshas finally been revealed atXbox’sSummer Game Festshowcase, and it’s coming in 2025.
This year’s Summer Game Fest might not have been the strongest in the show’s history(even if thatSonic x Shadows Generations trailer slapped), but it’s hopefully about to get a breath of life from Xbox, which is hosting its Summer Showcase today. Surprisingly, there’s not been too much confirmed to appear at the Xbox showcase, but there have been a few long-standing rumours.
One of the most persistent rumours that has been swirling around the Xbox showcase over the last few months is thatid Software is going to reveal a new Doom game called Doom: The Dark Ages. Those rumours suggested that it’d be “medieval-inspired” and that it could even be coming to PS5 as a multiplatform release, something that was just confirmed at the showcase.
Doom: The Dark Ages Is Real
The trailer for Doom: The Dark Ages shows the Doom Slayer (complete with a sick cape) in what appears to be medieval times and going up against a horde of monsters. Although that’s nothing new for the Slayer, he’s now equipped with a shield that can be used to block attacks and even decapitate enemies.
Although the name is different, it appears that Doom: The Dark Ages is thesame “Doom: Year Zero” game that was leaked back in 2023.
That’s not all, though, as the Doom Slayer was also shown riding a fire-breathing dragon and even using a big mech. All Doom is good Doom, but god damn does this look like somegoodDoom. Sadly, we’re going to be waiting a little while to see The Dark Ages, as it’s currently set for release in 2025.
At the very least, it wasconfirmedafter the showcase came to a close that The Dark Ages is also coming to PlayStation 5. So, whenever it launches in 2025, we’ll be able to pick it up on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
