There are certain toys that every company in charge of a popular fandom wants to pair up with -Lego,Funko Pops, and more recentlySquishmallows.Sonic,Pokemon, and even selectDisneycharacters already have their own Squishmallows, and now Disney’s range has grown by five. Five newLion KingSquishmallows created to celebrate the iconic Disney movie turning 30 on June 24.

The five Lion King characters to get the Squishmallow treatment are Simba, Nala, Scar, Timon, and Pumba. Some of those characters already have their own Squishmallows, but this anniversary collection is a little more special than the Lion King Squishmallows to have come before it. Each of them has a Simba’s Symbol patch stitched onto the bottom right-hand corner, the color changing depending on the dominant color of each Squishmallow, representing that these plushes are Lion King anniversary plushes.

The Squishmallows will be available through Amazon, Walmart, and GameStop when released for The Lion King’s anniversary and cost $14.99 each. The new range doesn’t appear to be available online yet, possibly because it is being saved for the actual anniversary of the movie in a few days. They might already be available in-store though if you happen to be paying a Walmart or a GameStop a visit over the weekend.

The Lion King’s Anniversary Squishmallows

Despite the significant milestone for what is one of Disney’s biggest movies, there doesn’t seem to be much in place for Simba’s birthday. A Simba and Nala plush set was previously available at the Disney Store, and a 30th-anniversary concert has been announced. There’s also Muafasa: The Lion King still to come, slated to hit cinemas this December, but the next live-action movie in the Lion King series doesn’t appear to have been made to celebrate the anniversary and just happens to be releasing in 2024.

Coming after the quintet of new Lion King plushes to Squishmallows are Pokemon’s next two additions. A tease has confirmedBellibolt and Fuecoco will be Pokemon’s next Squishmallows. Logical on the one hand as they both have soft and squishy designs, but a little surprising at the same time since both are Paldean and the newest Pokemon to get its own Squishmallow until now has been Gen Four’s Piplup.
