As for the story, it is an original tale that has been crafted by Julien Blondel with art by Shonen. The official plot synopsis is as follows:

Doomed by a past long forgotten, resolved to save what she once held dear. The flame is lit. A nameless woman wakes. Roused from the tomb by a past she cannot recall, she sets out into a barren, unfamiliar landscape. The protector follows. Bound by oath and honor, he safeguards her against the dangers that draw near with the same ferocity he does the secrets of his past. The Gray Cinders gather in their tower, called by the fire to complete their solemn duty. A colossus, incarnate of death, stirs with the bones beneath the scarred grounds. And a nightmare-scourge of a bygone era-returns to exact its toll. The fate of this land hangs in the balance, as their journey unfolds in this original DARK SOULS story!

Blondel is a relatively unknown figure in the manga industry, though he does have some interesting writing credits to his name. For example,he’s helped bring the Elric fantasy book series to life via a comic book adaption. Peran official biography entry, “he founded the company Studio 1D which specializes in the development of licensed games, and he also took part in the creation of a trade union of comic book writers.”

When Redemption does release, it won’t be the first time that the Souls universe has made its way into a book format. Previously,Elden Ring received a manga that was a gag reel. Elsewhere,Bloodborne had a graphic novel seriesandSekiro received a side story revolving around Hanbei. In any case, more Dark Souls content is always a good thing, so it’ll be interesting to see how the community receives the story.
