A thread cropped up on theCrusader Kingssubreddit this week asking if it’s better to sleep with your sister or mother mathematically. In-game, thankfully.
In fairness, inbreeding and incest are mechanics in the game that can even get you anachievement- Keeping it in the Family. You also get bonuses thanks to the Divine Marriage tenet, so doing an inbreed-only run is strangely viable, if a little uncomfortable.
However, inbred children have major disadvantages to every single stat except for dread. They also have reduced fertility, so continuous inbreeding is difficult.
But as with any mechanic, fans want to dig as deep as possible to uncover the best way to use it. Even if that mechanic is bumping uglies with your sis.
Should You Pick Your Sister Or Mother, Then?
Since you want the highest number of shared ancestors to maximise your inbreeding, your sister is the best choice, so long as you have the same mom and dad. As Mrmagot98-2 so eloquently puts it, “If you want less inbreeding then you fu** your mother.”
Of course, if you inbreed enough, your mother will also share the same number of ancestors as your sister.
Alternatively… you could sleep with both, “since you’ll have two women to generate heirs” with. If you want to do that, you’ll need to create a faith of Zoroastrian to change the marriage doctrine to polygamy but keep your Consanguinity doctrine unrestricted, a disturbingly well-thought-out ploy coined by WesternCelebration18.

Consanguinity allows you to have an unrestricted marriage, i.e. the ability to marry all family members. According to the description, “It is natural and healthy for family members to love each other, and those who say that love should be restricted to non-sexual relationships are fools.” I want you to know, and I am stressing this now, that writing all of this has made me very uncomfortable.
