Summary

Yesterday, a StatTrak factory new AK-47 Blue Gem pattern 661 sold for over $1 million in what isCounter-Strike’smost expensive public sale to date.

We don’t know the exact figure yet, but a Case Hardened AK-47 made history just last yearwhen it sold for $400,000. We’re talking over double that number in the new sale.

As reported byKotaku, the Blue Gem was introduced in 2013 but what makes this historical sale historic is that it’s factory-new. Up until yesterday, minimal wear variants were the priciest versions on the market.

A Blue Gem Knife Almost Sold For $1.5 Million

Spending over $1 million on some shiny pixels might seem excessive, but this AK-47 isn’t the most expensive skin we’ve seen.

For context, Blue Gem cosmetics are amongthe rarest in Counter-Strike,so they fetch a pretty penny. Evidently, given the AK-47 sold for as much as it did. But what happens if you find a Blue Gem knife? Knives are the rarest weapon in the game, so with the rarest skin on top, you’ve got the perfect recipe to make some big bucks.

Three years ago, someone found a Blue Gem karambit. They were offered $1.5 million, making it the most expensive cosmetic in the series, but they refused to sell. If they ever give in and pawn their karambit, they’ll easily take the mantle of the most expensive sale in the series' history, but for now, that title goes to the Blue Gem AK-47.
