PlayStation kicked off its State of Play at the end of May with a lengthy look at Firewwalk Studios' new Overwatch-like shooter,Concord. A cinematic introducing us to some of the characters you’ll be able to choose from, and then an in-depth look at its gameplay. Despite its appearance, Concord is not a free-to-play game like some of its rivals in the same genre, and it’s not too late to place a pre-order for the hero shooter if you’re reading this before June 27, 2025.

Concord continues to buck the $70 industry standard trend, likely after a couple of live service games that stuck to it at the start of the year have already faded into obscurity.PlayStationis pulling from its own live service success in 2024 instead by pricing Concord at $40. That’s the same priceHelldivers 2launched at. It might take a little more than a similar price point to replicate Helldivers 2’s success based onConcord’s unimpressive beta numbers, but we shall see.

Whether you took part in its beta or not and the $40 price tag hasn’t put you off, you can pre-order the game at the PlayStation Store through the link in the box below. Pre-ordering Concord will get you the Monarch pack which includes two weapon skins. Pre-ordering also got you and four friends access to the first closed beta. Not only are you way too late for that bonus, butthe beta wound up being available to all with PlayStation Plusinstead anyway.

Even though the beta has been and gone, early access is something different entirely. If you buy Concord’s deluxe edition, the 72 hours of early access means you will be able to start playing from August 20.

Concord has certainly had its detractors since its full reveal at the end of May, and the two betas didn’t really help. PlayStation is plouging ahead though and it will be interesting to see how successful it is and what is planned for the game post-launch. Some were expecting it to be free and might be put off by the fact that it’s not. However, as noted above, its $40 price tag suggests PlayStation is potentially expecting this to be a hit on a similar level to Helldivers 2. If you’re all in on Concord, PlayStation is also selling a limited edition DualSense decked out in Concord colors, available through the link in the box below.
