Elden Ring shifted to an open world in sharp contrast to the more linear, interconnected nature of previous games, and with that came a whole host of optional areas. They could feel a bit samey in the main game at times though, andShadow of the Erdtreehas thankfully taken steps to rectify this.
The Realm of Shadow is one large area with its own share of caves and catacombs, though comes with a few new variations of its own, the Ruined Forges chief among them. The Ruined Forge of Starfall Past (great name) can be a bit difficult, though, so we’re here to give you a guiding hand.
How To Find The Ruined Forge Of Starfall Past
Finding the forge itself isn’t too difficult. It’s located inScadu Altus, to thesouth of the Moorth Ruins, and north-west of Fort Reprimand. It will be in a small opening by a large ruin protected by a few groups of Misbegotten.
The harder issue is getting to Scadu Altus in the first place. Normally, you would have to completeCastle Ensis legacy dungeonfirst and defeat its rather powerful boss, though you can find a slightly more secret entrance in the Gravesite Plains that has aspirit spring that launches you directly into Fort Reprimand.

How To Complete The Ruined Forge Of Starfall Past
The Ruined Forge of Starfall Past is actually rather short, though has a few little secrets hidden throughout it that entice you to explore deeper. It also hassome cruel enemy placement, so come prepared.
Like other Ruined Forge locations,there is no boss at the end, just gruelling enemies throughout.
Starting from the site of grace, immediately enter the main room andcross the bridge to open the closed gate at the bottom of the room. There will be some Misbegotten to deal with in this room, so be wary of them. Pull the lever here, but before dropping down, run to the opposite end to pick up an item, theSmithscript Spear.
Travel down the newly opened gate, though be wary of the Fire Slime shooting flaming spears at you. Past it, you’ll be entered into a new room with another closed gate to the left and a Stone Construct hiding behind a pile of rubble to the right.
The easiest solution here is tosneak behind the Stone Construct and continue down another corridor past them.
The Stone Constructs are somewhat weaker to striking weapons, though your best best is to stagger them with charged attacks to the red jewel in their back.
Two Fire Slimes will be here, one at the very end and another hiding in an alcove to the right. Defeat them both, pick up the item at the very end of the corridor while avoiding another Stone Construct, and thencontinue up the ladder.
Past the ladder, you’ll enter into a lava-sided room. Immediately be on guard as theFire Slimes in this room will open fire the second you turn the corner. Grab the item in the back corner of the room ahead of you, and then continue up to the elevated slime and run down the corridor behind them.
You’ll now be on a suspended platform above the earlier room with a locked gate and a lever for that gate below you. Before dropping down, enter the room beside you to get aSmithing Talisman. Be careful, though, asa horde of Fire Slimes will all drop at onceas you enter the room.
With Slimes dealt with and new item in hand, return to the suspended platform and drop onto the bridge below. It’s recommended tosneak past the sleeping Stone Constructbecause they’re honestly more trouble than they’re worth. Pull the lever, and proceed down the newly opened gate.
Be prepared for this next section. Sneak down the corridor until you’re entered into a new room featuring two Stone Constructs, one hidden to the right. Rather than fighting them, rush to the back of the room to pick up theSmithscript Cirque, andimmediately run back to the gate. You’ll find another level here that will close the gate. Pull it.
All you have to do now isride the gate up, and you’ll be given access to the forge itself. Interact with it to get anAncient Dragon Smithing Stoneand theAncient Meteoric Ore Greatsword. The Ruined Forge Of Starfall Past is now complete!
