Summary
Update 21:00:Yup, the leak was accurate. This release date was confirmed at the Xbox Games Showcase. The original story follows.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6is launching on June 16, 2025.
This release date was just accidentally leaked byXboxahead of Black Ops 6’s grand reveal later today. While currently unconfirmed, we’ll find out for sure after the Xbox Games Showcase, when Black Ops 6 will take centre stage with a new trailer.
As spotted by Black Ops 6 intel on Twitter, the release date wasshared on the Xbox storeahead of today’s livestream. It’s still visible at the time of writing, clearly listing a launch date of October 25 this year.
Xbox has not responded to the leak. However, with the Xbox Games Showcase set to start at the top of the hour, it’s likely that it will just wait until the official reveal now. At the very least, this gives us a preview of what the showcase will include, on top of the expected gameplay trailer.
Activision startedteasing Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 back in May, and since then, the advertising has centred around world leaders and conspiracy theories. A trailer we got before today’s showcasefeatured Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush, and Margaret Thatcher- yeah, the last one was a jumpscare for us too.
Based on some of the details we’ve seen in the trailer, some fans suspect that Black Ops 6 will feature 9/11. This raises the question ofwhether the series can be trusted to deal with a subject matterthat’s so sensitive, with the effects still being felt to this day. Not only does it risk alienating anyone who was injured or lost loved ones in the initial attacks, but also anyone who was affected by the proceeding wars - and the ensuing racism that many faced.
We’ll have to wait and see if Black Ops 6 addresses this ethical dilemma when it launches on June 18, 2025.
