Summary

Last night, over 250,000 players tried to log into Destiny 2 at oncefollowingThe Final Shape’srelease. The servers buckled almost immediately, leaving most people staring blankly at a log-in screen.

As reported byVGC, Bungie addressed the situation on Twitter earlier this morning. “Hey everyone, if connection issues have blocked you from playing or enjoying The Final Shape today, we want to apologise,” the statement reads. “We’re hard at work trying to resolve each of these issues as quickly as possible, and many of the connection issues from this morning have already been fixed.”

What Is Bungie Doing To Fix The Problem?

Bungie has increased the number of Activity Hosts on each server and made several configuration changes to address the Honeydew and Weasel & Plum errors.

Six hours ago, it also announced that it was working to address a problem with players being kicked out of activities, stressing that it is the “highest priority” right now.

We built The Final Shape to be an exciting, cathartic, story-driven adventure for everyone to enjoy. We’re truly sorry if connection issues and instability is getting in the way of that experience, and we promise to keep working until these issues are resolved.

Players who missed cutscenes as a result of this bug can watch them again by accessing the Replayable Missions node found in the middle of the Pale Heart map. There are five total, taking place at the end of Missions 1, 4, 5, 6, and 7.
