Call Of Duty Fans Think Black Ops 6 Will Feature 9/11
TheCall of Dutyseries is no stranger to broaching tragic events. Within the Black Ops games alone, Activision has tackled the assassination of Fidel Castro and JFK, and fans think that trend will continue with the sixth game.
There are a slew of clues in the key art and teasers, such as thenumbers ‘9 11 2001’, the date that the Twin Towers were attacked. With every slither of marketing pointing to a game built on the back of conspiracy theories, like a global elite working in the shadows and pulling the strings without the public’s knowledge, tackling such an event would no doubt be incredibly controversial.
It’s still a fresh memory, with survivors and families of those who lost their lives feeling those wounds today. That’s not even touching on the effects of the War in Afghanistan, which only ended in 2021.
9/11 happened under George Bush Jr.’s presidency, who doesn’t appear in this new trailer. The closest we get to his tenure is Bill Clinton, who served between the years 1993 and 2001, just a stone’s throw away.
The date might just be a part of the conspiratorial marketing, or - as fans speculate - it could also be teasing something for the campaign itself. Either way, it’s an unbelievably sensitive topic that could prove as contentious as No Russian.
