Summary
The Elder Scrollsfans have been waiting a long time for a new mainline entry.Skyrimlaunched over a decade ago in 2011, and the TES6 reveal trailer itself is now a staggering six years old. We still don’t know anything about the game, but it’s not just fans who are missing the series, Bethesda is too.
“That did make me pause,” Todd Howard said of the teaser’s anniversary. “Now thatwe’re working on The Elder Scrolls 6and we get to see it in the studio, you do miss it. I appreciate all of those thoughts and are with the fans […] We’re working hard on it. One day, we’ll have it to everybody.”

What Bethesda Has To Say About Fallout New Vegas-Style Spin-offs For The Elder Scrolls
Speaking to YouTuber MrMattyPlays, Howard also discussed the idea of a spin-off for The Elder Scrolls in the vein ofFallout: New Vegas. He even addressed the idea of an immersive sim game about the Dark Brotherhood, stepping away from the series' RPG roots to explore its world from a wholly new perspective, much asRedguard—aTomb Raider-like platformer—did in 1998.
“We’re as protective of all the franchises as fans think, we wanna make sure they’re great and serving the audiences really well,” Howard says. “There are a lot of things we look at with Elder Scrolls - you mention a Dark Brotherhood immersive sim. I’m not suggesting that would be a bad game, but I don’t view that as filling some hole. I think what people want out of Elder Scrolls is a mainline game like Skyrim, likeOblivion.”
So, it looks unlikely we’ll see any expansions to The Elder Scrolls series beyond mobile games and the MMORPG spin-off ESO, but with TES6 in development and launching as Bethesda’s next tentpole RPG, hopefully, it won’t be too long before we’re back on Tamriel soil.
The Elder Scrolls 6
