Zombie games have always been a huge hit and a fan favorite. There is no shortage when you look at a long list of games that involve fighting against the undead, which can make it a bit of a task to choose which game featuring zombies you might want to play.
While there are many big-name titles to choose from, there is also a great selection of indie games that pit you against zombies. Being able tohack and slash your way through a horde of zombiesis incredibly satisfying, but there is a variety of games that introduce some intriguing storylines and atmospheric environments and will have you strategizing your every move.

You and up to eight players attempt to avoid and defend yourself against the undead by taking shelter, defending it, and looking for weapons and food. If you get bit, that could be the end for you. Not to mention fighting against the classic ‘walker’ zombies and ‘runners’ that will have you on your toes.

Zombie Soup proves not all zombie games have to be dark, gruesome, and gory. They can be fun and cartoony just like they are in this top-down hack-and-slash game, which also delivers some intense gameplay along with some puzzle-solving.
There is a grand arsenal of weapons to choose from, such as rifles, shotguns, and snipers, but you can also pick between machetes, axes, explosives, fireworks launchers, and even a railgun. Not only will you battle against hordes of zombies, but other absurd creatures, along with facing challenges and bosses.

Do you like zombie games and tower defense games? If so, then you might just want to check out Blood And Zombies. This hybrid game mixes the first-person shooter experience with tower defense aspects as you battle against hordes of zombies.
You will deploy as one of four heroes to fight against the undead. From there, you will build a fortress to your liking with an arsenal of weapons such as guns, explosives, and even electricity. Every battle is different as over 50 types of zombies will be introduced throughout the waves and can use weapons themselves.

Multiplayer games are great, but if you’re looking for a gamefocused on single-player action, then you might want to give Mist Survival a go. In this survival stealth sandbox, you will try to survive the apocalypse that a virus outbreak caused.
There is plenty to explore and do in this PvE sandbox, including base building, crafting, managing your resources, driving, and animal breeding to name a few. Some mechanics add to the gameplay, such as dynamic weather, time management, and day-night cycles. Of course, you can’t forget the most important thing; fighting against the infected as well as other survivors and wildlife.

Taking a turn from the normal top-down or FPS zombie games, there is Zombie Night Terror,a 2D pixel horror game. Unlike most zombie games, your objective in this one is to play as a zombie and spread the infection to the rest of the human population.
You will command your own zombie horde through fifty levels as you solve puzzles trying to create new mutations and feeding humans to your army. Be careful though, as the humans will fight back and lay traps for your army, but you will have fun chasing them down since there are destructible environments in this game.

What would you get if you combined a randomly generated road trip simulator and zombies? Death Road To Canada, of course. This game takes a car full of jerks on a road trip through interactive fictional events.
You will get to recruit other weirdos to your party, rescue dogs, and fight against zombies, which up to 500 can hunt you down at a time. Everything in this game is randomized, meaning each playthrough will be different with a wide cast of characters, and what makes it all the better is you can teach a dog how to drive a car.

You will get to upgrade yourself and your team as you progress through the game. This includes upgrading your weapons and gear and gaining abilities the more you level up. Some perks and skills will let you become an extraordinary fighter or be used as support for other members of your team.

The Final Station is another 2D pixel game. In this post-apocalyptic world, you travel by train as you go through the story over five chapters and wind up at an inhabited station at the end of each one.
Your mission is to maintain your train as you scavenge and craft valuable items that will help you upgrade it. You battle against the undead and even recruit others to help, but keeping an eye on your limited resources and those whom you recruit can be as equally important as you traverse the dying world.

Organ Trail, not to be confused with Oregon Trail, is a retro zombie survival game. Much like the educational game of a similar name, you travel westward with four friends but this time by fighting against zombies and trying to stay alive.
You get to name your party, scavenge for supplies, manage your resources such as food, meds, and ammo, and fight off against zombies and bandits. There is plenty to do, such as taking on jobs, stopping in towns, and protecting your party against one of nine diseases. Not to mention thekiller pixel artand retro sounds that add to the game.

Project Zomboidgarnered a following for its take on the zombie survival game. This open-ended sandbox lets you play alone or with others as you attempt to survive against the undead. What made this game popular was its focus on realistic survival.
You scour through two towns trying to find supplies, take shelter, and build defenses to survive another night. Crafting items such as tools, food, and weapons play alongside other mechanics such as day-night cycles, a line of sight and noise system, and illnesses. There are also plenty of skills to learn as you continuously survive.
